LORE
The shamans of the Great Barrier were nearly wiped out through the years. Decades past great shaman tribes had prospered in the mountains, trading with the tribes of Men and Minotaur. But it wasn't too long before the Demacians attacked the shaman tribes. The few shamans that survived left the mountains, and scattered the land to become nomads. Gahru never really left the mountains of the Great Barrier. When the Demacians began to attack the Minotaur tribes, Gahru urged his tribe to help their allies. The elders, however, were determined to remain neutral so Manuk, the chieftain, decided no help was to be sent to the Minotaur tribes. The war waged for months; the tribes of Man and Minotaur united behind their common enemy- and though they called for the aid of their Shaman brothers, still the shamans stayed neutral. Gahru could no longer ignore the visions of his meditations: the faces of the innocent burning in the flames of war, shouting to the skies for help. Weeks passed, and the battle worsened. The tribe was visited by a great minotaur warrior, and old friend of Gahru's. The warrior's village had been burned to the ground while he was away at battle, so he came for the aid of the shamans he once called allies. Gahru stood at the minotaur's side, urging his kin to go to war. But Manuk had the minotaur warrior banished, who cursed Manuk and raged down the mountain to face the Demacian forces alone. Outraged, Gahru stormed out of the village and set off to an ancient ritual site to meditate. As Gahru climbed the many steps to the ruin, he began to see many troops in the distance marching the slopes of his village. Panic struck him. Gahru turned and ran as fast as he could to his home, but it was too late. The village was filled thick with smoke and flames, littered with the corpses he called kin. The buildings had been felled like trees by the fire and destruction. Then a voice called to him, it was Manuk. Manuk pleaded for Gahru's forgiveness, and with his last breath asked that Gahru take care of his infant daughter, Ayelia. Gahru took up the bundled infant, and retreated back to the ancient ruins. That night Gahru had a great vision, and knew what must be done. So he slipped off into the night with the infant toward Noxus. He hid in plain sight walking the streets of the large city, until he came upon the building he had seen in his vision. Here, Gahru delivered the bundled infant with a note to a family of "nobles", where she would be well cared for. Gahru returned back to the ruins hidden in the mountains, waiting for the right time to emerge and play his role by participating in the famed League of Legends.
