Iago the Third Eye Shaman
Name: Iago the Third Eye Shaman Role : support-jungler In short description Iago is a champion focused on obtaining vision and control. He doesn't use wards... or better his wards are totems that he can move and enpower. He is a good melee fawer with tracking power and some sorts of slows and enpowering allies abilities. His totems work as an extent for his abilities to reach also far away places. He can channel an heal trough his totems that will be slower if the totem is further away (read description to understand well) Observing enemies helps Iago to discover their weak points and hit them harder. He is good in long fights and weak against burst. TOugh he's tank, so burst is good against his allies, but not against him, who is directly weak to kiting. His totems also grant special aoe. Last thing he's a troll, like trundle. Bio: trolls are the less common sentients in runeterra. They live their brute life in tribes, fighting. They are not renowed for being smart, or intelligent. Anyway some of them are different, they take an ascetic life, they mostly are fools, weaks among their tribe. They become shamans. As said many of them are fools, hermits who have a deep link with gods and nature. Iago was different. He was strong in fight, but he didn't find it really interesting. Since young he preferred the foolish tales of Kerstel, the shaman of his tribe. Tales about far away places, the hot sands of Shurima, the strange creatures living into the jungles of Ionia, the powers developed in the cities of the humans, the creepy creatures of the shadow isles. He asked him if he had seen them by his eyes, but he said it was a blessing from the gods. Iago didn't trust him so much, but Kerstel understood his feelings and gave him something. "Here this is a "book", humans write there their knowledge. I found it many years ago after robbering some freljordians who adventured too far in our places." For us it wasn't anything special, it was a children book, with many images and a few writings, but for Iago it was marvelous. "What is written here?" Asked the young Iago pointing at the writings on the book. "It's human alphabet, i can't read it" "Then how can you understand what those images are?" "Gods told me" Iago was full of doubts, but the illustrations of hundred of places were enough to satisfy him. Some months after tough he gave it back to Kerstel, saying him that he couldn’t trust something he couldn’t understand. They were no legends tough. It happened more or less a year after the book episode. It was a bright clean day, the sun reflected in the ice spikes with strange light shades. Then it all became dark, first slowly, from the horizon, then faster and faaster a black mist came toward the mountains, enveloping everything. Trolls were uncertain about the phenomenon, a bit scared. Jurla, on of the warchiefs was excited. She was the first one to fall. "It's the harrowing" whispered Kerstel. The situation was desperate, Iago saw some of the most powerful warriors in his tribe fall without a possibility to fight back. Then Kerstel eyes turned white. He started levitating while a light from above pierced trough the dark curtain. The shadow creatures were uncertain. And stopped their rampage. A white shield started to expand from Kerstel towards the creatures, slowly dissipating the black mist. It seemed to work, to repel them, the village was almost safe. From the depths of the mist a long hook came out. It pierced trough the shield and trough Kerstel flesh. When it returned to the mist a ghostly voice spoke laughing. "We'll be back, somewhen, somehow" The mist expired, Kerstel on the ground. Dead. Iago was kind, all the trolls are kind toward their relatives and tribe comrades, you can be brutal or violent, but the village is the village. That night was sad, many funerals were celebrated in the traditional way, tough there was no Shaman to say goodbye to the souls of the deaths. It was said that the shaman had to be chosen by the gods and their will. Bu the days passed and noone developed anything. Thos were desperate days, the tribe was halved. Iago entered Kerstel house. It was so strange, with masks, symbols, rocks with Trolls language. And there it was, on the table, the book Iago took time before. He opened it again. The representation of the shadow isles was really similar to the one Iago had seen with his eyes. He understood that in the end those were, more or less real. “If gods won’t help us, I will reach them to ask the help.” He walked, book in the hand out of the house. “Quortia, help me. You want to avenge your mother?” She was Jurla’s doughter, she inherited her strenght and force of will. Her eyes were about to burn for the strenght of her feelings. “Yes” “We have to go to an expedition.” The two trolls were young, but strenght is the quality all the trolls have from the day they are born. Some humans were no match for them. They escaped the village in the night hoping for the mist not to return soon. The words still in their head “SomeWHEN, somehow”. They settled in the valley, some days of walking from the village. They prepared to fight. In the end a caravan passed. They were from Piltover, and some of them had guns. Quortia knew of them tough and trolls skin is way harder than human flesh. The ones who tried to defend were brutally killed by the two, but the ones who made no offence were left alive and tied up. Their items were not so special or bvaluable, but there were other books. Iago took one of them from the head and throwed him towards the opened book. It was opened at the Shurima page. Iago pointed the title. “What? What do you want” Iago punched the mand and pointed again the title. “Shurima” said the troll. “Shurima” repeated the man. Then iago punched him again pointing the “S” “S” tried the man “S”.. whispered Iago “S it is it then” The first hours were slow, but Iago was able to understand some words. The merchants tough understood what the troll was seeking and started to be more collaborative, helping him to learn faster. The trolls kept them prisoner for two weeks. At the end of them Iago was able to understand words like “read” or “stop” or “please” or “magic” or “go” and to read them. But he knew he still had a lot of work to do. Quertia was able to speak too, but showed no interest into learning to read. They set them free in the end, tough they took everything they had except for some clothes and food. Iago decided to walk his path. And went to some Freljordian tribes to try to get more books and to learn more. He was able to ask “i want to read” and with many difficulties managed to put his hands on a grammar book. A year passed this way, learning from tribe to tribe, form humans to trolls. Some trolls from other tribes had interest in Iago’s “mission” laughing of him and his weak pride. Quertia shutted them down easily tough she was full of doubts. Iago understood her feelings. They also became closer month after month. Iago started to try and understand some magic. It was not so easy, but since he found a you mage apprentice walking lonely and foolishly for training it was a bit easier. Kidnapping him proved to be diffcult for his tricks and abilities, but his offense was poor and after 2 days of tracking his smell and the two trolls were able to hunt him down. To understand the foundamentals and first tricks Iago needed one more year. “Quertia. Go back. They will need you. Our tribe needs you, prove yourself worthy again and they will accept you. They need someone strong to lead them and soon you’ll be able to.” “You are not that weak you know? She mocked him a bit, but in truth she had developed a true admiration. You are smart, i understand a bit what you are doing. You can be a better leader than me.” “I am not worthy. And i am not strong enough anyway. We work this way and we both know.” He continued “This will last more years” said with a depth glance. Then he started a fire using one of his first abilities. Quertia saw his actions with interest. “Tough i’ve never seen a troll do this.” She was sincere. Kerstel or other shamans are not reall too much into magic, they are more about potions, medicines, religion. “Still i don’t even know how they would react to this. And we have our vengeance to accomplish. You too have become smart, you have seen what happens without a leader, you know you have to protect our tribe and we both know i have to travel a lot.” “So you are going? And i who tought you’d have forgotten the vengeance.” “No, i won’t forget, but i need time. I am sorry for this. Let’s go tomorrow.” After eating the had to sleep. Noone of them was able to. They were awake, they lifted up and watched themselves. But a shadow passed into Iago’s mind. He knew it would’ve been more dangerous and their mission would have been at risk. He turned the face away pretending to sleep. The next day was sad. But what had to be done was done. Quertia returned home, bringing a caravan with her full of stuff they were able to rob or exchange. Before going they exchanged one last glance, then they departed. “To the south” he sghed a bit sad and a bit excited. Next years saw Iago growing in knowledge rapidly. He visited many places. He reached also shurima, that was not like the image in the book he alwa brought with him. It was ruined, full of sand, no gold, no magic there. In the end he came to Bilgewater. Year after year he had listened to many legends about the harrowing and mostly they referred to this city. That was really a strange place, tough in the end it was not so much different from a tribe without a leader. A big tribe he tought. There he met her. He was walking trough a market full of thieves and burglars, but they didn’t even try to rob a 2 or more meters tall mass of strenght. His eyes analizing everything. Colours shapes. He recollected many biology books classifying all the fishes that were traded and sold. He was so distracted that he didn’t realize he bumped into a woman. “Hey watch your step” She shouted. She was a tall, muscled woman. There was no fear in her eyes. She smiled for the surprise of the troll. He saw his challenging glance. “Sorry, step aside” continued him, provoking her. “I don’t think so” continued her. “Should i move you?” “You get to try it” She was the first one to punch. It was a tstron punch, similar to Quertia’s one. People started gathering. “Oh it’s HER” “Isn’t that a troll?” Iago answered with a “montante” to her chin. She took the hit, spitted out the blood and answered. “not bad” The fight contnued for two hours. In the end they were both exhausted, but she was the winner. “You are… not bad i should say” “Umpf, i am weak” “Get up, name’s Illaoi” “Iago” “You punch well, but for a troll, you speak too well” “Well i know.” “Come with me, i am curios. What brings a troll her in this pirate city with no rules? You seek freedom? You seek wealth?” That woman had his respect Iago told her the whole story. She was impressed. Really impressed. “My name is Illaoi, you can call me the Kraken Priestess. I can teach you how to fight … that. Show me your magical skills.” After some rest she bought him to a cave. There Iago showed her his magical skills, his fire abilities, his frost magic. “You got some good stuff there. But it won’t be enough. I have decided. I will train you” Months passed. Illaoi tought him about movement, about life cycle, about life power, about gods. But many days were spent to fight. Iago expressed his doubts about this. “You actually can punche them. The fact is that you need to be able to. You have to not fall for the mist. If you can resist the mist you can fight them.” Anyway he became able to fight properly with her. Time after time he grew up skill, he understood her movements and her techniques. “You got me this time” Shouted her at his first victory. Some weeks after. “Well i suppose we have finished.” “What?” “It’s done, you are ready. You have to know how to fight the mist alone.” “But how. Please, explain” “Go away. You have what you need to understand” Then with a kinder tone of voice. “You have surprised me, but now go, your tribe and your Quertia will need you.” Iago smiled and with a grin asked her “Bye, teacher, but first can i ask you something? How old are you?” She punched him in the belly. “Older than you think.” Iago travelled again. But during his walk he understood that knowledge was power in a practical way. So he started to infuse with life and magic totems. He sent them in different places. The shared what they saw with him. So he was able to explore jungles. He observed the rise of Shurima. He watched how a Dragon like creature used his stellar magic to close a dimensional fracture. He saw a God returning to the human world. He saw everything. And the sadness of life slowly entered him. He accepted death as part of life. Countless of soldiers dead on a battlefield. A deer killed by a hunter. The birth of a vastayan kid. The blossom of the flowers. Life and Death. Death and Life. He understood. The moment he understood he saw the world. Also the flight of a fly or the fishes in the depth of the ocean. And also… the mist. He could see it, he could see the creatures inside it. He could se trough it. They pointed to the north, to the freljord, to his village. To Quertia. He saw her. She was stron, she was the leader he had predicted. But they couldn’t be able to fight the Harrowing. He knew it was not too late. “Move. Move.!” He started to run. The life pumping inside him. Magic ready. He ran for a week. He was not late. “IAGO!” Shouted Quertia. “Quertia.” he smiled. “They are coming.” Fear was in the faces. Quertia eyes were ready. “Can you do it?” “I can” “Listen” she spoke at the village “We have the possibility to avenge our relatives. Don’t have fear. Iago says we can do this and i trust him. Be proud of yourselves. For the Rock Fang!” Iago waited in the open air. He sent his totems to the places where warriors assembled. His waloking cane on the crossed legs, levitating midair. Quertia watched him. His eye closed, but in the front his third eye opened. He was impressive, he was changed. Other trolls watched him with admiration and fear. He was not the weakling they left. In any way. “They are here” After some seconds the mist arrived. Iago interrupted the meditation, enpowered his arm and his can with fire and charged toward it. The fight started. He was able to see trough the dark smoke. And also his allies. Near his totems they had no fear, repelling the enemies and hitting them hard. The ghostly creatures proved to be strong anyway, but now it was a loyal fight. He observed the fight while punching down the ghosts. Whenever someone was on the verge of death he channellled his life force to his totems to help them. Quertia was fighting the creature with the chains. But she was losing to him. Iago knew who he was. He had seen trough him. “Thresh!” Shouted confronting him. The creature seemed surprised “How interesting” “Bring it on!” “Quertia wake up! And return to fight!”Shouted him while punching thresh in the face. The towho fought for many minutes It hurted. The sadness of the word was entering his mind. “You can live forever. No death. Surrend to me.” He was about to fall, but then the knowledge of everything. Returned to him, together with the acceptance of all. “What about no?” His arm on fire he freed himself, while hitting Thresh. With the cane. “You don’t belong to this place. GO away. I will come for you soon.” In the end the fight lasted till the end of the night. There had been no deaths. And the village celebrated the victory with days of party. Iago was not there tough. He climbed the mountain. Till the top. Quertia saw him and followed. “What are you doing here?” “They could return” He was sad “We’ll fight again” “Yeah, but what is the purpose? Death will always come” “It will come, but why should you give it up your life so easily?” “I can save mine, but what i see… Now i see all and death is everywhere.” “Life is too” “Well.” “See it yourself. With your physical eyes. You can see all, right? You have changed… you are different, but still so sad. We are trolls. We can be sad, but this attitude of yourse never changed. You seemed always so hopeless, but now you brought hope.” “I will travel” “It’s what you have always done. As far as i knew you a bit more.” “I have to leave” “You can reach us anyway, am i right?” “You are right” “I have faith in you. I have never seen a troll like you. And, you know, now that i am a chief i have seen many things too.” “Indeed.” He smiled. “Well farewell” he continued. “It’s more a see you soon, we both know” he smiled again “Well death can always come” “Punch her” “I’ll tell you of my travels” “I liked fairy tales anyway.” And this is how Iago became a Shaman. He protects his village and the ones he meets. He observes the world. He also walked towards the shadow isles without fear to keep the promise he made to Thresh. His surprised face was something unbelievable. He made “friends” with a voidborn called vel’koz who shared his knowledge hobby. The rock fang specialized into fighting magical creatures and ghosts and now it’s probably the less harrowed place all over Runeterra. • Passive: ○ Iago has mastered the art of vision and knowledge year after year: all of the items related to vision have power ups or side effects. Also trinkets charge 20% faster and in stock wards charge without going to the shop (also if slowly) § Warding Totem: places a totem, recharges faster. § Sweeping Lens: places also a sleeping totem, that will be awake after 10 seconds § Oracle Alteration: places a totem anyway, at Iago's current position § Farsight Alteration: places a sleeping totem, that will be fully awake after 10 seconds § Eye of the Oasis: totems grant + 20% movement speed to allies in their area, that decays after exiting it. § Eye of the Equinox: totems grant a shield for the allies entering the area § Eye of the Watchers: totems will slow nearby enemies § Ruby Sightstone: totems will have more vision range and each 20 seconds gain true sight for 2 seconds. § Tracker's Knife: totems will grant more damage against monsters in the area. Also totems will grant true sight of enemies seen after they exit the area for 1.5 seconds.
○ All the wards/trinkets Iago places become his totems, linked to his abilities. Also touching an ally or enemy ward transforms it into a Iago's totem. (Iago has to see it anyway and stop to transform for some seconds, consuming his mana and health)
• Q: Life link ○ Passive: Iago's totems are linked to him: destroying one will damage also Iago, while if they expire normally will heal Iago. ○ Active: Iago's Heart pumps more life force that strarts to travel from him to all his totems. Further they are, later they will get the life. When the life force wave arrives it will heal the totem and allied champions in a small area near it (overlapping doesn't work). (This spell costs mana AND health, it cost more health for each totem Iago has, tough it has a cap). (20 seconds cooldown) ○ Active: if the spell is actived while pointing on a specific totem the heal will proc only from that totem, but that totem will be able to walk for a bit into a direction (imagine it as Viktor's laser) (lower cooldown, like 7 seconds) • W: Third Eye Opening ○ Iago enters a state of transcendence, opening his third eye: he and all his totems get more vision range and true sight. Also walls or brushes won't stop vision. After exiting the trance its effects will decay over 1.5 seconds. (40 seconds cooldown or more) • E: Alchemic Fire ○ Iago throws a mixture of acid/magic/chemical elements that deals damage, slows and burns enemy hit on the impact. The fire deals damage for 1.5 seconds, but stays on the enemy 10 seconds. Igf they enter fog of war the fire can still be seen, tough it doesn't grant vision of the enemy. Also Next 3 basic Iago's autos will apply the same fire. • R: Omniscence ○ Passive: an enemy that is seen more than 5 times will be slowed at the activation and will be slowed by Iago's autoattacks. (A totem can "mark" an enemy once each 6 seconds, same works with Iago's vision, so if someone is visible by the same totem for 24 seconds effect would apply.) ○ Active: Iago's auto attacks will apply the fire effect, third eye opens (this will send W in cooldown). Also enemies that are "SEEN (see the passive above)" will suffer 10% more damage from all sources. (lasts 5 seconds, cooldown 100 seconds)
• Launch Skin: Hextech Iago I don't know what happened with the above paragraphh. Anyway here comes the discussion. i tought of a champion based on totems and healing.. in generale there are two kinds of shamans in fantasy the ones linked to the spirit world (like udyr in a sense) and the ones linked to healing, inner power, life (Iago). I tought of him as a troll because i found it fitting. About gameplay he is the master of vision, he can practically alone ward and cover the entire map (remember old supports? HAHAHAHA) But his totems give him a way to reach everyone, with compromises of course. He also is strong against enemies who are seen by him and helps his teammates to fight them. So in a sense he's weak towards assassin because they can kill his allies before he heals them (like soraka, while Janna or Lulu are good against aassassins), but is better at helping the Whole team and counters assassins because he's good at tracking them so they can't get kills so easily. Thanks to his ultimate he wins in longer teamfights and can prevent ganks or allow risky plays if well calculated. Kayn would counter him i think.
