Hybrid Champion
Dear Riot,
Lately, me and a friend of mine were discussing league, a situation that will sound familiar for most of us and we pondered a ridiculous idea. How overpowered it would be that there would be a champion that can relocate his damage. For instance, if he builds full AP, at some point he can make a change so all his AP becomes AD. Obviously, we were aware of the rage potential against such a champ, but it got us to the right idea.
However much I like the new champs in League, it is becoming increasingly difficult to come up with new ideas and tactics to alter strategic outlines of league. It is always an interesting prospect to look at a new variable that players need to take into account. Therefor, I present, the ultimate Hybrid.
The idea is simple and is rooted in the oversimplified brainstorm of earlier. What if there would be a new champion that could alter his damage based on percentage ratio's to the opposite force. Of course, it can not have a 1 to 1 ratio, but it's a way for a team to counterplay itemization from the other team. Likewise, this 'technique' doesn't have to be purely champion-based, this could also be incorporated in itemization for a new sort of hybrid champ that can alter his damage to best fit the situation.
The way I see it, is like this: It's sort of a kha-zix evolve on certain levels. Sure, you can choose to keep your items the way they are if you want to, but at a certain point you get the option to choose. This requires both your team and the enemy team to completely alter their playstyle to play accordingly to the newly '(d)evolved' threat. I would also like to point out that, in order to make this viable, I'd suggest rooting this change to the 'new champion class' - meaning hybrid - in their abilities. For instance, their abilities get altered in their ratio's as well. These abilities will also evolve, like a kha-zix' ability, but you should be able to evolve towards 2 different transformations. Although quite similar, still unique as their evolved abilities will be used differently, as the damage of your evolved AP ability might be more of a DOT ability, while on the other hand if it's ad, it's a burst ability. And as they are already hybrid champs, by evolving a certain way, your spells evolve towards a certain 'form' that will make it less opportune to later evolve the other way around. What I mean is, at level 6 evolving towards ap and then at 11 to ad will delay your evolution, but if that is what your team needs at that moment, then at level 16 it might still prove to be the better option.
Granted, it is a lot to get your head around and I do grasp that making this champ viable but not OP will be a grueling task. But the idea of broadening the rift with these Darwinian champions might prove to tactically enhance League even further, embracing the new, while still rocking the old.
Kind regards
