Use Honor as a Currency to buy in for Ranked lane preferences.

Introducing the honor phase.

Between the defeat game screen and their next lobby, players have the option to dote out love to the MVP, and spread honor among the participants in their game. All honor votes happen simultaneously and don't relay who picked who until the votes have been cast or the timer has expired - players do not need to be around to see the results, they could be in their next game when they get honor if they're fast enough.

The honor system is simply a checkbox click style menu where you select up to 5 of the most talented players in the game (in descending order) and the game sorts out your 5 honor and spreads it as evenly as possible between the selected summoners. (Giving more to the first selected where required)

Summoners give 5(1) honor a game. The amount of honor given is 5, but is spread evenly among all of the players who they deem worthy. If a player happens to honor the same opponent twice over the course of multiple jambles, the next honor deposit to them is reduced to 4... then 3, 2, and ultimately 1 honor per match.(2) You can give your teammates honor, but it's worth much less much faster - 5/2/1/0. These reductions reset over a period of games played.

(1)numbers are relative and should be taken as nothing more than a way to explain the concept, variables can be tweaked.

(2)players who have already been honored by this person has reduced gains, but it doesn't affect the other vote nominees in the slightest.

See, sometimes promotions just need that little edge - you at your best - and unfortunately for some players that means they can only perform that well on a certain role. With the new honor system, players can spend a few contemplative normal queues planning out their next strat and preparing for their next climb.

At >100 honor, summoners can expend 100 of that honor to get a guaranteed role (of course, opting in for larger queue times for the sake of it.) for a specific ranked game. At >120 honor (the cap for honor being 150) the love is dished out at an increased rate - a bonus, from 5, to 6 at most, and 1 to 2 at the least (or 0-1, at the real least). To make the climb a little easier, each individual player who honors you during a ranked queue adds 1 honor. If you gained significant honor last game (3+), the next game will guarantee +1 honor per person.

When you dole out 50+ honor, all of your handouts are reduced by 1 for a few games..

The most honor you can receive in one game is 50, but you have to work for it. Bonuses are good and feel fun, there will be plenty of them.

Although, honor received is a little tricky, it's not so rare anymore - at least one person should get honored in every game... even those 48 minute 4v5 games. Say there's one struggling promo-stressed summoner still positive in attitude and score giving their all. Times when "/all nice" just isn't enough, drop them a 5 point wonder. When he gets that MVP ribbon for solo carrying his promos... it's gonna get good.

How does that make it tricky? Well, you don't actually get reap all the rewards unless you meet a couple of conditions.

You must qualify for at least two of the below: -Two players honor you -You honor at least two players -Less people reported you than honored you

OR one of the following: -One person drops all their honor solely on you. -Three people honor only you.

You opt out of Honor if: -Two people from each team or 5 players in total report solely you - strangling you. (The gains are refunded if reporting is done after the honor screen) -You AFK and do not return -You play Devourer Teemo and hit 30 stacks. -You have not given honor this game and don't meet the conditions above -You single-handedly honor an 8-man strangled player

The person who received the most commendations from: -Their own team: Gains a teamwork ribbon -Their opponents: Gains an honorable opponent ribbon -Their own team MVP: Gains a helpful ribbon -The entire game: MVP award (ribbon? - perhaps an extra few honor points too?) Getting honored without being reported grants the recipient a friendly ribbon.

But why all this dumb complex stuff anyway?

Well, here's a list of solutions my proposition changes.

Honor has a use.

Honor feels like it has more weight, both because it actually does have more weight, but also artificially feels more responsive because 5 is a bigger number: Also, MVP awards feel good.

Honor becomes an investment of respect; You can opt in for some received honor, but being a sourpuss gets you nothing.

Ribbons aren't player defined and therefore have an intrinsic value.

Ranked situation improvements: Everyone wants their main role during placements, no one wants to antagonize their team to get it.

Honor can be stored up (like rerolls) but require continuous good behavior to have consistently.

Players have more incentive to honor, as you get less if you don't give your share.

Honor can't be spammed or exploited.

Balances Promotion games. Bo5s and Bo3s can be stressful and difficult, especially when you had to have had won a game before hand too.

Even if the player isn't opting in for promotion strengths, it's always nice to have a go at mid after sixteen games of "second preference support"

BAM.

this wall of text began about 5~ hours ago, delayed between games and forgotten about over dinners. please tell me if any proof readers can eloquently point out my faults to the entire world, there will probably be a few contradictions and broken thoughts along the way.
