[WIP] Short story/lore piece
Hi everyone. I am not extremely good at using boards, being mostly a redditor, but my friend thought it was more appropriate to post this here, so here's the thing. I'm Female Kamui (for now, because I always name change), and I'm.. I don't even know actually. I make champion concepts and stories for fun and this one got the attention of some people, so yeah, I am now here to get more opinions, hopefully. Here goes nothing.
A little girl comes out of apparently nowhere in the center of Piltover. She falls on the ground, panting and looking around, seemingly lost. The citizens around walk past her without a word, not even giving a look at the kid with clothes teared apart. After walking around for some minutes to understand that she really was lost, the infant starts yelling incomprehensible words at everyone that passes by. The townsfolks, getting scared, hurry to get their respective homes. The rumor that a young witch is psalming in the center of Piltover came quickly to the ears of everyone. When the authorities arrived to inspect the situation, no sign of life was found.
-13 years later-
"We already talked about this, it won't change now."
"Dad, today is the day I become an adult, you can't hide me forever!" yelled Audra.
"I can't?" asked the old man. "Then why are you still there? A mature person doesn't need an approval to do her own things, yet you wouldn't leave the place until I told you it's fine."
"How do you know it's not because I respect you enough to put your opinion in priority? You've taught me everything that I know about this world, and I don't remember you mentioning anything too dangerous about Piltover," she said with conviction.
"Listen, Audra. It's not about the danger of this world itself. The place where you come from was decimated hundreds of years ago and has no survivors left except you, visibly. If anyone was to learn about your origins, you can be sure you wouldn't have any kind of freedom for your whole life," he answered on a tone that easily showed how annoyed he was to repeat himself.
"Dad, I won't use the ancient language, okay? I will be careful to not tell anyone about me except my name and everything will go fine! Nothing can go wrong if I do as you always told me to," she answered as a last resort.
"You won't change your mind, I know that much," he said before taking something from the little pocket on his shirt. "Take this with you, and keep it safe whenever you leave home, little girl," he said with a smile.
"Thanks dad!" she said, really happy. "It's not like I am leaving forever anyway, I'll see you tonight!" she finished while opening the door of the house for the first time.
"I wouldn't be.. so sure about that.. little girl.." The old man said between loud coughs, looking at the door as she went on her way.
Audra's eyes were already amazed as she left the only place she knew for more than a decade. All she knew for herself being how brown the wood of her room was, the multitude of colors around the city made her promise to herself that she would spend every single day she could exploring the world. She walked for some hours until something caught her attention. A crowd was assembled around a floating old man with what seemed to be a clock in his back.
"You!" Audra yelled.
"Zilean, young lady," the bearded man answered with a big smile and no cares about the apparent anger of the girl.
"What did you do to me? Answer me now!" She ordered.
Zilean and the people around were pretty confused by the situation. Without a word to say, the elder kept staring at the newly adult.
"Tell me the truth." She said in the ancient language, looking deep in the man's eyes.
Zilean, after realizing who was facing him, immediately chased the citizens away to speak to Audra alone.
"So you are alive.." He said, shocked by the revelation.
"What do you mean, I'm still alive? What even happened? I was a child and because of you, I was separated from everything I've known!"
"Listen, please. I know you must hate me, young lady, but I've never done anything to harm you. If you would tell me your name and follow me, I can explain you everything, but you have to calm down before.."
"Before what?" She interrupted him.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said this yet. Your name and your trust is all I ask for, at least for today."
"My name is Audra Solana. I do not trust you, but you owe me answers, old bones. I am following you."
These words, seemingly innocent, were about to change the fate of a naive young girl.
Later that night, at Piltover, the death of Mark Solana, an elder of the city, was reported.
This is currently pretty short, and things seem rushed. This is only a draft and only about a third of the story is written, which means it should be pretty different. If I get some positive feedback, I'll probably post the end product on the boards when I'm done. Thanks for your time, and I hope you enjoy.
