Pengrit - And the sealed spirit
Hi guys, this is my second post here (i've already posted this topic but... it was most a draft ^^' compared to this). I'm a concept and design artist (on my freetime). I love collecting as many opinions as possible so I can improve in my work and on my (art) passions. To day i want to show you (again) PENGRIT And the Sealed Spirit (a combination of "Penguin" and "Spirit").
I like to embrace the new riot's theory "a champion that can be played in more then 1 role". Then i got this champion that can be played EVERYWHERE.
First thing first, i gotta say that i hadn't a clear vision of his kit, of his lore, names and details about everything. It's an early stage of the concept and you'll be part of the brainstorm phase! So, let's start:
[IDEA SO FAR]: We got this penguin holding his weapon. The weapon is a cone/amphora with a spirit sealed in.
[LORE]: < No Lore Yet >
[KIT]: > PASSIVE - <Spell not named yet>: > ----------------- > Passive effect: Pengrit constantly regenerates, in very small portions, the life points lost for all the time that remains on the bush. (This is great as Jungler and Support, or ways better, as ADC if you got Ivern as Support °^°) > > Active effect (only as Pengrit): The spirit begins to flow into Pengrit, giving it a boost to speed for a few seconds. The effect resets up to 2 times each time Pengrit crosses a bush. CD "High" (around 45 sec) >
> R (available since lv1) - <Spell not named yet>: > CD (something like): 15/10/5. > Channeling time: 0.5 sec. > ----------------- > Passive Effect: When Pengrit completes the channeling of the spell it can no longer be knocked (in any direction) for the entire duration of the active effect of the spell. > > Active Effect: Pengrit, after a short channeling, slams the cone in his hands on the ground. > From the cone, as well as a tremors, the spirit moves under the ground and then comes up in a position chosen (not far from Pengrit). > When the spirit appears both he and Pengrit can no longer move from their current position. > The player loses control of Pengrit but will use the spirit as an active champion. > The spirit will have its own HP, range of attack, and its damage, through AA and Spells, increase with the magic power of Pengrit (and not with the physical damage). > When the spirit suffers damage, a large portion of that damage will also be dealt to Pengrit. > When the spirit dies it comes back from Pengrit and the spell will go on CD. > Pengrit can choose to turn the spirit back at any time (by reactivating the spell), so Pengrit will reacquire a small portion of HP based on the remaining HPs of the spirit. > If Pengrit is stunned/killed while the spirit is out, the summoning effect vanishes and the spirit is forced to return from Pengrit (the spell goes on CD).
> Q - <Spell not named yet>: > CD (something like): 5.5/5/4/3 sec. > Channeling time: 0.25 sec. > ----------------- > As Pengrit (active effect): After a very brief channeling, the spirit bites a chosen target within the radius of the spell (range and effect similar to the Annies' [Q]). > The target, in addition to receiving damage (base damage + %AP), is slowed down for a few seconds (the slowing effect disappears in scale during the entire duration of the slowdown). > > **As Spirit (active effect): **The spirit bites a champion chosen within the range, as a result of the bite, if one or more champions were within the initial range, the spirit will continue to bouncing and bite all the champions involved. All affected champions will be slowed down for a few seconds. Then he will come back to his previous position.
> W - <Spell not named yet>: > CD (something like): 15/12/9.5/7. > Channeling time: 0.5 sec. > ----------------- > **As Pengrit (active effect): **Pengrit shook the amphora containing the spirit in a chosen direction. > The spirit will leap out (straight forward) of the amphora grabbing the first obstacle it finds with its bite. > The following effect changes according to the obstacle involved: > > • Wall = The spirit will grab the wall and Pengrit, reactivating the spell [W] will leap to the point struck by the spirit (for instance Tresh' Q when he lands on a champion). > > • Champion = The spirit will grab the champion with his bite. > The involved champion will be slightly dragged towards Pengrit and will not be able to move / run for the duration of the grip. > He will also suffer damage from the bites. > > • Minion / Monster = The spirit will grab the minion, and after a short channel, it will kill it. > The effect is valid for any type of minion / monster in play (except Dragon/Baron/Void). > The duration of the channeling varies depending on the HP of the minion / monster involved. > If the minion / monster dies Pengrit will receive a good portion of HP back based on minion / monster's HP. > > As Spirit (active effect): The spirit, after a very brief channeling, will change its current position (in this way it can also move further away from Pengrit) into one chosen by the player. > When the spirit comes out of the ground in its new position it will bite the first obstacle within that area. > The obstacle will not be chosen by the player but the spirit will give priority to the target in this way: Minion / Monster with more HP > Champion. > The effects applied to the targets will be the same as those described by the skill used by Pengrit. > If the spirit reaches a bush it will recover HP for as long as it remains on it (like Pengrit's passive).
> E - <Spell not named yet>: > CD as Pengrit (something like): 15/12/9.5/7. Lasts around 3 sec. > CD as Spirit (something like): 20/17/14/12. > ----------------- > As Pengrit (active effect): The spirit will leap and bite a target ally (inflicting very little damage). > The ally, if he moves in the direction of Pengrit, will receive a boost to the speed. > When the spirit is on an ally, Pengrit will be able to use his own [Q] or [W] using the ally's range (in order to quickly cover distances he could not reach before). > > As Spirit (active effect): The spirit will spit a strange essence all around from his body, pushing away nearby enemies. > The enemies hit will be marked by a burn that will last a few moments, during which they will be silenced and slightly suffers magic damages.
[GAMEPLAY]: As you can see he's a very immobile champion but with high range of attack. He can easily be used as a Jungler as he can eat blue and red with 1 spell. In addition, its ability to regenerate HP via bush help his role as Jungler, Top and Support.
His movement switch between high mobility (from activated Passive ability and W) to 0 mobility (the phase when he summon's the spirit), but offers several spell useful both for the engagement (from the W) and the disengagement (from the E).
Besieged without problems, creates early game oppression as both an attacker and a defender.
His spells scale a lot both in CD and probably in damage. I think the deadliest point for him is the mid-game, but it's a good Early and Late game champion.
Knowing how to position is crucial when using Pengrit. Most of the time, both his body and the Spirit will remain immobile, forced to undergo easy attacks from enemies. Knowing how to position yourself well (defensive for Pengrit and aggressive for the Spirit) will cause incredible oppression to enemies who attempt to last hits during the initial early stages of the game.
Knowing how to calculate well the times of evocation and return of the Spirit will also be fundamental because the Spirit, if resumed before it dies, will give you a good recovery of HP.
[APPEARENCE]: https://i.imgur.com/BVPeZMQ.jpg At first I thought of making him looks like a shaman.
Then I wanted to try a more real version like a King and his magical amphora with which he dominates his kingdom.
In these last days I wanted to try an astronaut who finds in the space a being that can imprison and exploit at will. After sketching those 3 I thought of a sort of ancient priest. To be honest, I had that armor in mind then it turned out that he looked like a priest :'D.
Which of these, in your opinion, is the most convincing version? Or ... is there any other version that came to your mind and that you would like to see come to life... maybe more in line with his kit?
Let me know!
[CONCLUSION]: If you reach this point I'm glad you've read all this text. Your opinion is important to me, so leave your comment below!
I have other concepts in mind .. I will show them! Just the time that I "define" them better in my head, as I did with Pengrit.
'Till then, good luck on your games!
