League Open World
Imagine if Riot re-created their world, Runeterra, as an open-world game. Players choose a beginner-level champion (ie
,
) to start out as, and spawn in the game in their chosen character's division (Voodoo Lands, Freljord). It starts by informing the player of the champion's lore and background in a visual cut-scene. Then, the player can control their champion and is told the basic commands (q, w, e, r, etc.) by a companion from their lore (ie
would have Tibbers ;
would have Beatrice). This part should be skip-able, so that common players of the original League of Legends would not have to partake in a lengthy tutorial when they already know how to play.
After the tutorial, the player is free to wander around their "town" and speak to NPCs to learn more about the game, do misc. tasks for them, and train their skills. After completing a task given by an NPC, the player should be given a reward, such as an item or, if leveling up, a spell
,
, etc. As the tasks get harder and harder to complete, the rewards should, obviously, get better (
,
).
Once the player has completed a number of training courses (which count as tasks and involve rewards) they are allowed to exit their starting division and explore Runeterra, completing tasks, fighting bosses (ie dragon; baron; and other champions, which are in their corresponding places) As you explore the world, you can make a number of allies; compete in real-player tournaments based on level; discover the lore of champions; and build for yourself, given you posses the required materials to do so.
Why compete against each other in a few locations (Summoner's Rift, Howling Abyss, etc) when you can compete in the entire given realm?
