new champ! The Cartographer
right, so its a rough idea. not really fully formed as a character or stats wise, but with what i think could be a functional move set in the game. Cartographer is an early game support/ mage, with his main strategic abilities being around vision in the map.
passive: cartographer cannot buy wards. but instead can purchase "map makers eyes" which behave like wards in every way. he spawns automatically with 2 and they regenerate slowly at a rate of 1 every two minutes, not affected by him purchasing more. these wards take 5 hits. he also passively has a larger casting range for wards that goes up with level. and finally when attacking enemy wards his first hit counts as two meaning he can clear them out quicker. also and importantly, when cartographer dies all his wards die with him, meaning if hes targeted in a fight his team will lose a lot of vision.
Q: a target spell that slows for 2 secs and marks enemies hit for 10 secs, no matter if they are in bushes or out of vision+ ward range. the only thing that can counter this is invisibilty or Ivern's bushes. enemies hit also have no vision for 10 secs, that is their map goes black and theyre vision pulls in. its disorientating and takes away an opponents ability to see if hes running into allies or enemies away. it goes up by 0.5 secs at each level and gains a larger casting range. the initial slow doesnt increase and the damage goes up with AP. this spell also one hits all enemy wards.
W: this is the move that ties up his link to wards. when casted it causes a burst of slowing energy from all wards in a large area around him. all damage scales with AP and increases by 1.5 if theyre hit by a second ward. after two though the damage doesnt stack. the damage doesnt increase with level but the range does. at leel three enemy wards release the same burst of energy, at max level its global. this move allows team work, with all allies dropping wards in a team fight it can be a great source of consistent damage.
E: a brief flash of absolute vision in a large area around him. at max level this is global. the vision on enemies only lasts for 2 secs and doesnt show movement, only the enemy location at that point in time. it also grants a small 50 damage shield to all allies in the immediate area around cartographer. however if you hold E the spell changes into a channel, releasing E at any time reverts the spell to its original burst status. but if after the 1 second channel you're still holding Cartographer enters a spyglass stance. in this he pulls out his large telescope and can scan the map with absolute vision in a channel in whichever direction he points. this stance lasts 6 seconds in which he is rooted. all allies in the beam of vision have a speed boost. the vision cannot see enemies in bushes and all enemies have your position highlighted on their map and can see your lane of vision, though not your allies in it. if youre attacked while in this stance you will take bonus damage. leveling up the ability increases its duration and at max level you can cancel out at any time.
R: as a support his only real team fight contribution is his ult. this is a large point and click ability that creates a burst of suction going towards the targeted area. this burst is brief and enemies on the perimeter of its radius wont be sucked all the way in. enemies that hit the middle will take bonus damage. it does around 100 damage to all enemies hit, 50 to creeps, that goes up with level reaching 150 at max level and having an imporved radius of effect. this doesnt scale with AP...
Cartographer would be a squidgy support, probably with fairly high AD but very slow attack speed. he's going to have slow mobility with high mana costs but tolerable cooldowns. design wise im thinking a hooded character, with a large map hanging from his waist and his spyglass tied to his back. he'll have a weird glass monocle at the center of his hood looking like a giant eye. his face cant be seen. And if i had to force lore, id probably enrole him as some sort of Noxian strategist, working with Darius and Swain. Just an idea! id like feedback, id like to think the use of wards was a good twist? but of course vision has always been a hinging point in games so he could easily be an OP support. that said i did think he would be pretty poor in late game and would be much more of a defensive character, not one good at sieging or attacking. just wanted to know what you lovely people thought.
(if i made spelling or grammar mistakes i'm super sorry, i'm lazy when i type)
