Everyone is complaining about not liking this new system, but I'm in love with it. I can't remember how often I couldn't find a thread I was looking for just because they would get lost in the whole "refresh a page and look all threads are completely new and different". I'm personally not a fan of that. Here i can see what the most popular are. Generally, the most popular are the worth reading (Of course there are exceptions). I don't want to spend time searching for good juicy threads. Here, I can just look in click in a matter of seconds and find the worth reading comments of a thread.item 3143

I agree it's easier to find threads on here but that also may be because traffic is much lower... I'm undecided on which I prefer. If only people tried using this to see whether their fears were rational...

A lot of people are worried, however, about unpopular but still contructive threads getting buried beneath memes and low-effort threads. And I think that's a legitimate worry.

I do agree with you that in the old forums it was very hard to follow a specific thread due to the high traffic and that combined with visually connected conversations are the main reasons I too like the Beta.

+1 for appropriate feedback, and I'm glad you like it! :)

People are unwilling to embrace the new set-up because it stifles the trolls.

Most of the GD lurkers are trolls.

I'm really happy with it so far. I didn't think I'd like reddit style after using regular forums for basically ever, but it's been surprisingly easy to navigate once I gave it a try.

The fear that quality posts may get buried may be true, but let's think about it this way: how many terrible posts are going to get buried for each good one? What if 1 good post is buried for each 10 bad posts. Is that acceptable? I would say no. But what about 1 good/100 bad? or 1 good/1000 bad? I don't know what the actual ratio would be, but I'd say it's far more likely to be in the acceptable range than not.

It is irrational to think that all good posts will see the light of day no matter the format. Think about an average GD thread. Maybe there's some good stuff in there, but they often just devolve into drivel. Why should those threads stay on the front page when they've run their course?

This style has potential if people actually use it, reserve judgment and give valuable critiques.

I definitely hope they can create a system where the threads are easy to find AND all threads shown to me are of interest to me. That, plus the notification system, and I can tolerate most other things.

One thing I miss though is that I have to work a little bit in order to find new threads. If I've said all I wanted on the front page threads, in GD: I would just refresh and voila! New things to peruse. With CB, I actually have to hunt a little more. Not terrible, but something I miss. But being able to find an interesting thread again with ease is something that is too good to pass up.
