I advertised Boards on Reddit.
Here is some of their feedback: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2o50xw/attention_redditors_please_use_riots_new_boards/

This is likely a bait or mocking Riot, but I'll bite.
To be honest, the argument of "Riot is just copying reddit" kind of bothers me; it is, in my mind, one of the few bits of criticism that is actually the exact reverse of what is useful for improving the platform. There are quite a few issues with the platform and how certain things have been handled, but blindly disliking it because it's too much like reddit really misses the big picture.
HOWEVER. I also don't think it's necessarily players' fault for having that mindset in some cases. The amount of misinformation and extreme outdatedness people are showing in that reddit thread is pretty interesting, and points to a communication problem from Riot. Here are some examples from the thread:
What did they change from the old Boards?
The person was interested enough to ask this question and has no idea about the change, despite the fact it happened months ago and the platform itself has existed for over a year.
more like reddit, less like a forum. So if you enjoy reddit you dont need to check the lol-boards.
Just...misguided. The platforms function distinctly differently, but spreading the notion of not needing the Boards if you have reddit is not ideal.
Reddit is x times more active so no.
Which begs the question, is the Boards platform actively promoted anywhere?
Las time I tried it I was told I couldn't post because my NA account wasn't level 10. So if that's still the case it's pretty ridiculous for non-NA players to post on the NA board, which is where most of the commotion happens.
This was fixed months ago, the person was clearly interested enough in the platform to attempt posting back in the day. What changed?
