I thought Riot announced changes like this well in advance. Maybe I just wasn't attentive enough on the old forums but I never really saw this coming. Anyone have anything about if this was announced or not?

Edit: Did some research myself and found out the boards have existed for a while, in fact a VERY long time. Seems odd though, there's still so many bugs and negligence that I thought it was still new (context anyone?). And I'm still confused about how players from all regions can speak on this new forum, because evidently League is in a different state for all regions (eg. the new SR was released on the Russian servers well before any others); it might cause some conflicting idea of the state of the game.

Edit 2: The forums are still up, but only accessible via the OCE site. I am very confused now.

NA's forums have been switched to this platform. They're going to do the same for other regions, just not quite yet. It's #2 on their priorities list, after a couple smaller-scale features (better quoting, some small visual changes, etc).

Honestly I suspect they made the switch for NA sooner because NA's GD was getting out of hand with porn posting, etc, and they needed the better moderation tools they have here sooner rather than later. As you said, it's still very much in beta (as the team recognizes this -- Boards still has the 'beta' tag on the home page).
