Features Community Beta Is Missing

Okay this new community is missing a lot of things in order to be truly effective:

  1. Moderators: We need designated moderators so that forums can be filtered and to make sure the right stuff is being posted in the right categories. A lot of stuff can get lost or simply overpopulated with the wrong discussions. We need a way to move discussions to their right locations and moderate posts. (We don't want information being in the wrong place and getting lost)

  2. More Sub-Communities: Like the original forums we need more sub-communities for the respective topics/categories.

  3. Comments/Discussions should be moved up based on upvotes: There are a lot of discussions that have been upvoted a lot due to various reasons such as bugs being upvoted as result of many people experiencing it. These reports should be viewable instantly instead of being buried under other discussions. Since we aldready have the ability to sort discussions by time of posting we definitely need this change.

  4. View Count: It would be nice to know how popular my post is and if it is actually getting any views.

I feel like these three things will immediately make this new community feature more effective and easy to get data from (for Riot) and use.

  1. There are definitely moderators, Monday I got a temporary ban for swearing. Sometimes it takes them a bit on people who spam threads or scam links, but they are there. Trust Me

  2. I think they mentioned something along the lines of trying to keep a core set of sub-communities and either branch out as necessary or try to work with temporary ones like the Pentakill and Summoner's Rift.

  3. Whether or not comments are moved up is dependent on the display setting you have selected. For example, the default is Best which displays the most upvoted / most commented on (read: popular) comments as the first comments. This setting is directly above the comment box on the right side of the black bar.

  4. I agree with this, it would be a good thing to include in a thread.

Moderators

As Mackledoge said, we have mods, even if they're not quite as fast as they could be.

I'll also respond specifically to your point about content being in the wrong sub-comm: right now, we've got a small community here on the CB. But when GD finally decides to make the swap, we're going to have thousands of posts per day. It's just not a good long-term solution to have mods moving things to the correct categories - that takes an immense number of hours of work. Instead, we should focus on making it very clear, which content belongs in which sub-comm, to reduce the amount of sub-comm errors.

More Sub-Communities

I'm not sure that we need more sub-communities - I think what we need is better sub-comms. Currently, the lines are not really clear, so there's a lot of confusion about where posts belong, leading to more work for a limited team of mods, and making it appear like the forums are not as well-moderated.

Comments/Discussions should be moved up based on upvotes

short answer: they already are, in part.

only slightly longer answer: there's a lot that goes into deciding what appears in what order.

View Count: It would be nice to know how popular my post is and if it is actually getting any views.

Agreed.
