This looks like a way for Riot to avoid criticism.

Maybe this is just the conspiracy theorist in me. Then again, in the year 2013, it seems perfectly valid to be a conspiracy theorist (I mean these words are probably going to be stored at a Prism facility by the NSA if that tells you anything).

With this style of posting, threads with problems that more casual players would be interested in (like the removal of IP from custom games thread) would become invisible quickly, since the majority of the players that do care about that kind of stuff usually don't visit the forums anyway.

Here is a link: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3832701

I sometimes feel like the forum's voice of the voiceless, and its hard for me to keep threads with more casual concerns relevant, with this system it will be all but impossible.

You may not like seeing so many posts that are nothing more than "bump" but if it makes a thread visual again, then it is necessary. How can someone make a thread relevant that isn't important to the average forum user? Just because it isn't relevant to the average forum user doesn't mean that it isn't relevant to the player base at large.

If they decide to fully implement this reddit style system over the old vbulletin, then I pray they have some way to reach out to the more casual non forum going players. The players that when they have a problem with the game, they don't say anything and just leave. Those players that prefer to play a custom game with one or 2 friends over playing a PvP match. Those players that don't care anything about rankings. Those player who would rather see more maps and mode in the game than hear about professional teams. These are the types of players I represent, and there are much more of them then Riot seems to realize as evidence by the the thread linked above. These player's voices get buried in the old system, but by the looks of this one, may even seem non existent. A whisper is better than nothing.

We've given this a lot of thought, and I'd like to reinforce that what you see in this system is not the final product, by any stretch. I can confidently say that we did not build this to avoid criticism.

This topic is a very interesting challenge on multiple levels, and I don't feel like any major community platforms have really done this right for large scale communities

Bumps are easily abused, and "reddit style" certainly has it's flaws, specifically around long-living discussions gaining visibility (as Hot and Best are currently determined by votes to the discussion itself, with Hot taking time into consideration).

We look forward to taking on these challenges within our community, as we want every player to find their place in the community.

I really feel that bumps shouldn't be necessary to have quality, relevant contributions and discussions easily accessible.

Showing only "community approved" threads means that you censor unpopular opinions, which is exactly what makes Reddit literally the cancer killing society. It's a Fahrenheit 451-tier dystopia level of censorship.

"Don't worry, those complaints were just nasty trolls! Riot is perfect! Riot is perfect! We have always been at war with Eurasia!"

i personally think that riot should do a better job with the tribunal and leaver buster system. nice in theory but trash like their customer support in reality. how often do i get reported for verbal harasment just for winning and the only thing i say all game to all chat is stuff like GG?
