Downvoting on the Boards a bit of a... put down?

I've been letting my creative juices flow a lot by creating a bunch of champion concepts that I feel really pack a good experience, however... I've noticed a lot of downvoting, even when people, WHO ACTUALLY READ THE CONTENT, love it. The downvoting really wards people away from viewing your post because I noticed that I didn't receive a whole lot of views once my votes fell below -1. It got me thinking... the power to downvote is really strong, and people can seriously abuse it.

I have polls on all my concepts asking people to vote whether or not they liked the concept, and I don't get enough "I don't like this" for the amount of downvotes that I get on that post. This probably means that people just go around downvoting a post when they just glance at the content, and if it's not to their liking, they downvote. OR people just go around downvoting because something sounds stupid.

I think that it seriously puts down a person when their post gets downvoted into oblivion. It's like saying, "No, your idea is stupid and unacceptable". On top of that, it wards off people from viewing your post, so in turn, it reduces the success of your idea getting out to the public. I don't think this should be allowed to happen.

I'll propose a new idea, let's remove the ability to downvote from the boards. Instead, only the ability to upvote is allowed. This will allow a post, that people like, to truly flourish without the interference of "ignorant" people who don't care to read the content! This will make people more likely to post their ideas on the boards and perhaps bring new things to the table. Besides, if a post isn't favorable, it will sit a 0 votes... which is still sort of a putdown, but at least it's not because people simply glance and judge your post within 5 seconds and destroy the potential your post has.

Just some food for thought because I see it happening a lot on the boards, and to be put frankly... there really aren't enough nice people on these boards.

I don't know what you posted, but Champion Concepts are notorious for being downvoted by jerks trying to bring attention to the one post on that board that they didn't downvote; their own. Don't let it get you down, but feel good knowing your ideas threaten them.

down vote are important due to people who try to used the board for venting. or replying with irrelevant or wrong information. now as to the subject of your champ concepts you have to go above and beyond to get your concept accepted and beloved. the most popular champ concept to date is http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/8hhT41YP-champion-concept-dhama-the-force-of-balance you know why? it's because this person went above and beyond only have a creative kit. he made models drew their own concept art and wore a meaning for lore that fit in to the currently established lore and even made an interesting release skin concept.

now one thing that will 90% of the time get you down voted is using are from another game or anime, it makes you appear to be lazy. so it coveys a "i dont care about this champ so why should you" attitude

This is one of many reasons why voting on posts is a terrible concept that should not ever be found on discussion forums. Unfortunate that the concept is not going anywhere because "we want to be more like Reddit".

You can have an upvote though.

Down voting has its place. Perhaps it could be reserved for forums like Game play and Balance, but removed from the more "creative" sections.
