When someone makes an idea or discussion that is unlikely to be implemented in-game.

Sorry, some people aren't as smart as you, some people can dream. Don't be a jerk and say it will never happen. just say what's possibly wrong with it. Boards are meant to stir conversation, not crush someone in the dirt.

Even if it is a crazy idea like

  1. A new champ concept
  2. Adding a new item concept
  3. A new skin concept
  4. Changing the competitive format

People should not be afraid of negative feedback here, just constructive criticism.

just make nerf lee sin or zed threads before and after each of your other posts, you can make yourself feel better with all the free upvotes.

this is coming from someone who hates both of those champions and wishes they were deleted, but its true.

I understand your sentiment and while I agree with you to a point, I think you are forgetting that putting ideas out to the public is a 2 way street. From a practical standpoint I don't believe being needlessly harsh is productive but at the same time hearing unedited criticism can be the most honest and therefore the most useful. If an idea is perceived as stupid, regardless of if the idea is actually stupid, this is invaluable information for the creator.

Two examples come to mind to illustrate the important difference between needlessly insulting someone and giving them false feedback.

Needlessly insulting: "a 3 year old could have come up with that go kill yourself" False feedback: "That is a really great idea! Don't worry if no one else thinks so because Im telling you thats great!"

You see one response may hurt feelings while the other may make you swell with pride but they are both detrimental because they are both dishonest.

To sum it up, what Im saying is that if someone responds to an idea with the criticism "that is a really bad idea," or even "that will never happen," its not necessarily a bad thing. If the person saying it really believes it then imo they have every right to say so and are being a "better" person by being honest than if they decided to lie to protect anothers' feelings.

sometimes there's nothing objectively wrong with an idea, but everyone knows that Riot refuses to implement it

it's sad

What I object to is not something that's unlikely to be implemented. It's things that aren't properly thought out. At least attempt to address possible side effects and problems with your ideas, even if you don't know how to fix them.
