Why I've stayed away from the Boards

As far as the boards being a natural step in the process of the evolution of League of Legends I understand the positives and welcome reform but unfortunately as an adult the Boards look childish and lack the depth needed to be immediately successful.

Navigation is rather unfamiliar when placed next to what was already in existence. I'd expect when transitioning you'd show an effort to make the two halves similar and/or familiar. Having the lack of categories and sub-categories make this a nightmare and I suspect there will be a lot of threads moved to the correct forums. Example : Original Forums Fan Creations: [Fan Art] [Fan Fiction] [Champ/Skin Concepts] Boards Community Creation Skin & Champion Concepts This should be all one category

Why not simply add a drop down menu on the left make it easy to see where you want to go as well as having some reason for the order of the list . Right now it seems like they list was composed as it was thought of with nothing seeming more important than the next.

Suggested Format Red Tracker Announcements <-The most important thing General (Are new people going to know what GD stands for naturally?) Esports & Competitive Play: [Esports] [Competitive Events] [Team Recruitment] Gameplay Discussion: [Gameplay Balance] [Maps & Modes] Fan Creations: [Fan Art & Fiction] [Skins & Champion Concepts] Games, Meme, Misc. Story & Art Tip & Guides Help & Support Report a Bug Feedback Clicking a category would drop down more subcategories on the left menu

Miniscule issues: Italics is hardly noticeable. Formatting is limited. Spaces don't register and there isn't a way to indent paragraphs. (I have 10 spaces before and after register yet it appears as normal)

I just saw a forum titled Ideas & Feedback linked by a Rioteer. Where is this? And why isn't it on the list if it's suppose to be used?

It's a bit wonky, for sure. The goal is to make sure the community isn't segmented past the point of usefulness, which is why we have these reasonably vague areas.

Suggested Format

For the most part I agree, though General/GD shouldn't be towards the top in my opinion. When I originally started using the boards about a year ago, I was under the impression that it was a specific design choice to avoid the melting pot concept of General Discussion; it's a bit of a shock to see that it's now included, and I feel it could actually be bad for the platform if it's a primary source of communication.

One thing that disappoints me about the new boards is that it's even worse for mobile devices than the forums. The sideboard takes up about twice the screen space on the left side as the name/icon/title in the old forums, and the right side of the post ends further from the edge.

With as many phones and tablets as there are out there, I'm surprised no one considered this a potential problem.

Maybe? I guess I just don't like sidebars in general. I also dislike the sidebars Microsoft added to Outlook, especially since they aren't resizable or removable.

Every time we mention changing the forums we get downvoted into oblivion.

Clearly the player base wants these new boards!

This is Riots mindset right now.

Looks too much like reddit, somewhere I absolutely despise. I hate the fact that riot have forced this transition when having two boards was perfectly fine.

The truth of the matter is, the boards beta was simply not popular compared with the actual forums, so why they have made this transition utterly baffles me. their justification in their announcement makes no sense at all
