[Poll] So...Thread Deletion

<< Topic: Thread Deletion = Negativity for Everyone Involved, not just OP >>

The current implementation of thread deletion basically punishes commenters for posting in certain threads. Even though the direct punishment goes to the OP, everyone that participated in the thread has their contributions removed from the Boards permanently. There is no record at all of anyone's posts within that thread, which is not effective moderation. Posts on deleted threads don't even show on profile history. It's a negative experience for everyone involved, not just the post that deserved deletion.

Is there any particular reason a thread can't just be locked and unlisted (viewable via link) rather than completely deleted from existence whenever moderation action is taken on it? It is beyond frustrating to post a detailed response on a thread or be interested in the material contained within then have it evaporate into thin air.

I know you provide a link to the OP, but why is it that everyone else that participated on a thread is basically forgotten? Even if the OP does deserve to be deleted (surprise, mistakes do happen), at least provide people with the link the ability to see it. What if there's a really insightful comment replying to something? What if there's a really interesting tangentially related conversation happening that people might want to continue somewhere else?

I would like this system to be implemented for people who replied in the thread, while they are waiting for OP to move the thread via this system.
