What happened to "Post of the Day" and "Community Reporter" programs?

Yeah, I get it, Rioters are on holidays, but wasn't the Community Reporter program more or less a way for Rioters to let the community manage the boards (while they're gone)?

As for PotD, it could help not-so-easily digestable quality content get a spotlight, since long and constructive discussions are usually getting less attention from the crowd than skin concepts, "X is OP" rants and the "Riot pls" posts. That's an innate problem with the Reddit model, though - too often people consider the upvotes/downvotes as "Like/Dislike" buttons. Upvote is supposed to mean "This contributes to the discussion", not "I agree with this", but trying to enforce this is kinda doomed to fail, so programs like Post of The Day can help counteract this tendency.

as far as PotD that was almost completely Riot Baconhawk, so probably simply her being on break.

And the Community Reporter program is running from what I've heard, it's just not 'ready' as of yet. But you are correct where that was meant to be a way fro the community to inform the community.

Post of the Day

This was never official, it was something Baconhawk did for fun. I presume she's on vacation or busy, which is why it hasn't been popping up as much.

Community Reporter program

I have no idea what's going on with this. The program itself makes very little sense, it honestly seems like it's just trying to offload work to the community. The initial happenings were...interesting, seeing as people almost immediately got into the "secret" board and started posting/taking screenshots/making archives.

Tamat also hasn't said a word about it, and apparently no one else at Riot has anything to do with the initiative. I'm aware it's the holidays, but this seems strange.

Nerp. Community Reporters are/were intended to find interesting/bleeding edge content and bring it to a board that Tamat set up specifically for this purpose. It's currently hidden from all but those he chose to help out, so... shrugs

I'm going to disagree with you here. I think an up/downvote should be used as a measure of like/dislike, or agree/disagree. It should be used to surface community sentiment.

I also think we're missing functionality to show thoughtful comments that contribute to the discussion.
