My 2 Complaints With the Current Beta Community Structure...

I've read several threads now discussing a dislike of this new reddit style. Here are the main concerns that I've seen there and agree with (and both of which I think riot could come up with fixes/improvements for):

  1. It's hard to follow a thread because you can't sort by what's already been read and you end up re-reading a lot. Most recent only sorts by root branch of a line of discussion, and best puts lots of things that you've already read on top. There is no current way to clearly see what's new or where exactly the discussion has been moving forward.

  2. Even though threads naturally branch nicely in to separate points, the branches are a bit unwieldy. It's hard to see chronological relation between discussion branches, and I find it hard to even keep track of what branch/sub-branch I'm in in a given moment. Say I'm reading a long series of quotes, it's hard to tell when what level i'm going back up to when one sub-branch discussion ends.

The first point might be as simple to solve as adding "check mark" tags on what's been read and maybe an option to automatically hide checked posts or something. The second point might require a bit more creative thought, but I think RIOT is up to the challenge!

Overall, I'm very happy to see the community discussion tool move forward from a General Discussion only forum. I'm excited to see how this shapes up; Bring us in to the next generation of community collaboration RIOT!

Also I would like to be able to see views on a topic in addition to number of comments and "ups"
