Why is verbal conduct punished so much more harshly than leaving/inting?

Sure, neither are desirable behaviors. But if someone gets out of line verbally, I mute him and enjoy my game.

Yesterday, I had a top lane go 0-11-0 in 20 minutes. He was charging down the lane feeding. I reported him, didn't get an alert that a player was punished, so I assume he's getting away with it. This was truly inting, he flashed under towers for no reason.

And I get a 10-day chat restriction for the following. This is literally unbelievable that this text has resulted in a 10-game chat ban. So we're no longer able to even ASK if someone who IS INTING is inting? That's reportable? Meanwhile, I got called the N-word and f*ggot yesterday. Again, no punishments popping up when I log in this morning.

Riot, you are backward in your punishment. Players calling out griefers should be literally THE LAST to be punished. Punish the people who actively lose games. Punished the people throwing out hate speech. It's such a joke that all you care about is chat behavior.

In-Game 5 Dollar Holler: >.< 5 Dollar Holler: you'd have regen it back 5 Dollar Holler: guess not so easy 5 Dollar Holler: low elo 5 Dollar Holler: soraka is a stronger healer than sona, yes 5 Dollar Holler: 6 deaths in 12 mins... 5 Dollar Holler: udyr should we assume you're int? 5 Dollar Holler: oh ok 5 Dollar Holler: udyr you have to alter your play style 5 Dollar Holler: yep 5 Dollar Holler: can we forfeit? It's actually punished less harshly: those other behaviors usually skip chat restrictions entirely. The catch is that verbal toxicity is easier to confirm, so it is identified and punished faster, which often makes it seem like it is more harsher punished.

Verbal toxicity is subjectively bad. Gameplay toxicity is objectively bad.

Yeah. NA chat is moderated strictly for the sensitive players. Maybe try transferring to other regions where chat is not moderated as strictly if at all.

You said you can mute then enjoy the game, so why does it matter?

it's not that verbal toxicity is punished harsher

it's the fact that chat related rule breaking is 100000000% easier to detect, therefore punished more often

A few basic things wrong with your interpretation of events here:

  1. Punishment notifications are VERY rare. There is no correlation with notifications vs punishments being handed out. Assuming that somebody got away with something because you weren't notified is incorrect.

  2. Inting is punished MORE harshly than verbal conduct, with a minimum punishment of a two-week ban and maximum of a perma.

  3. Gameplay-related offenses such as inting often take a manual review, since it's difficult to interpret intent by score alone. There's a backlog of games requiring review, so this can take several days. Justice, in the case of inting, is not swift.

you could make a support ticket here

Its probably a misunderstanding

Cuz riot likes to pretend this is a family friendly game when its not, and likes to pretend its being played by under age kids when its mainly not.

people can just mute you if youre toxic but riot knows 3/4 of their remaining player base is required to wear a helmet to use silver wear so instead of advising them to mute they ban the scawy mean toxic guy

Its not. Chat offense punishments range from chat restrictions all the way up to permabans after at least two punishments. Gameplay punishments like inting, are instant 14 day bans. Objectively, gameplay is punished more harshly. I dont know how you came to that conclusion. Maybe you just got a false impression because of how easy it is to detect toxicity. Or you just used the wrong words to express what youre thinking. Idk. But your title question doesnt make sense, since it is not punished more harshly.

No need for my input, I’d just be adding echoes into this cave.

I'm with you on that one (on that one).

I don't think you deserve a chat restrict for making an accurate, reasonnable, and proportionate description of the situation. The only "bordeline" thing is the "Thanks for reporting Udyr". Asking for report is useless since the system is triggered at the first one (they say).

I don't see what's wrong with telling someone that you're not fooled by their behavior and you're going to report it. Unlike it's often said on this board, I have seen many people change their behaviour during the game when they are reminded of what they might endure afterward.

They pout for two minutes and then they start participating again. I even had "sorry about the beginning of the game, I was an idiot".

Why is verbal conduct punished so much more harshly than leaving/inting?

Basic punishment path for verbal conduct (bold parts are for ZTP):

First Offense: 10 Game Chat Restriction Second Offense: 25 Game Chat Restriction Third Offense: Two Week Suspension Fourth Offense: Permanent Suspension

Basic punishment path for inting: First Offense: Two Week Suspension Second Offense: Permanent Suspension

punished so much more harshly

I don't see it.
