Please stop asking others to report.
I'm unsure why people think it helps. It... doesn't.

Most people are just severely uninformed about the systems they are using. Ignorance can be cured with information though; it's the ones that refuse treatment you have to worry about ;3
When my Anivia ice walls me to interrupt my recall allowing Lee Sin to successfully backdoor our nexus, this needs to be explained to both teams so proper griefing reports can get the shithead banned as soon as possible.
Yes in most cases people crying for reports are the main problem themselves, but it's hardly a universal constant.
If I'm going to report someone, it's the people asking me to report others.
95%+ of the time, they're the ones who are more toxic.
Agree
It might help. I mean, your reports mightve already "lost weight" for whatever reason, so why not?
It's part of League culture. It's a tradition. In other games people use profanity, but in League it is the traditional call for reports.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think asking for reports is considered toxic behavior and thus reportable.
This can happen everytime. Exemple, low elo level 4 duo mid the duo mid laner is asking to report me for no reasons and it worked. Totally dumb.
Unless when someone seriously deserves a ban.
There's actually a lot of people never using the report button because they always thought it doesn't work.

You must be the guy being reported! (◕‿◕✿)
The more reports a toxic player gets, the more likely they are to get punished.
Just thought I should say that even if it doesn't seem like it, especially in-game, most people are sympathetic about what you are going through, mainly because it's probably happened to them before, but a simple explanation rather than someone spamming "REPORT X FOR Y!" is a lot better and causes less stress for everyone involved imo. Also, I can't speak for everyone but even if the system worked with multiple reports a match mattering I'd still be less likely to report an enemy troll if the other opponents spammed allchat with report requests.
See nowadays I don't ask anyone to report Anyone, I instead ASK "ok so are you guys going to report xxxx?" when they say yes that makes me happy, when they ask why I provide the evidence (in a non toxic manner) when they say no I say "well ok but you should know they did xxxx, and it is your civic duty to Report but you don't have to if you don't want to"
Can't get punished for "asking for reports" because technically I'm not :^)
It is a way for them to vent their bad mood. Usually trolls and flamers leave a sour taste in the mouth of even the most correct of players, and calling for reports is a way for them to channel this, it's like a way of telling people "You misbehaved and now you're gonna pay for it" and while it definitely doesn't do much, it's better than straight out answering hate with hate.
Overtime I see this I realize how limited my desire to correct people is, so here seems like a fine spot. You get punished based on the percentage of games where you ARE reported, not the raw number of reports. So if everyone on your team reports a dude, thats the same as just you reporting a dude. Which means that if someone has personally offended you, reporting him on your lonesome is fine. Stop asking people to report; it makes the target worse and more unbearable (if they're doing it on purpose) or toxic (if they weren't)
People don't seem to know is that asking for people to report others is itself reportable
I do struggle with why asking for reports is punishable. Firstly, I'd like to make the distinction between "badgering teammates for reports" and "suggesting reports". Badgering teammates for reports should be viewed as a form of verbal harassment, such as "you're terrible if you don't report this person", arguing with someone IN-GAME as to why a behavior is reportable, etc.
But just asking for reports? It's a call for action against toxic behavior.
I've had several teammates these last few days, where I'm jungling, and one of them gets pissed that I don't gank or camp their lane, so they start following me around in my jungle to steal large monsters from me. My teammates aren't watching me 24/7, they don't see this kind of griefing. While I may say "okay dude stop following me in my jungle and stealing large monsters from me", I DON'T say "report 'x player'". However, there should be nothing wrong with that. If I was laning and my jungler said this and explained what was happening, I would totally agree that the griefing player should be reported, and I would thank the jungler for bringing my attention to it.
Players should have zero-tolerance for toxic and griefing behavior in games. Being the "watchful bystander" (thus, taking no action) is not enough. "I wasn't the one being griefed, so I shouldn't report" just leads to the griefer and toxic player to keep going on, UNTIL the toxicity reaches that "watchful bystander" and affects them in the future.
It shouldn't be burdensome to see a teammate ask for reports on a toxic/griefing player. In fact, it should be a good thing, to be able to cooperate with your teammates to filter toxicity out of the community.
I don't like how Riot's handling the Tribunal atm, but I actually did get someone banned today. So, it does work, but I've probably reported thousands of people and this is the first time they did anything. So, at best that like a .1% efficiency.
because multiple reports means more people are seeing the behavior. i literarlly just had 3 fucking trolls in 1 game
tahts why people rage, thats why peiople get angry. bc other people make the game worse, while we rely on them to up our score.
