Riot, Snowflakes?

I believe Riot as a company, probably one of the worst company in the world of video games period. any "toxicity" in the in-game chat is met with bans and punishments that just dont fit the crime at all, riot employees need to understand when 2 sometime 3 other players are being toxic toward you 1 or 2 things are said in return, it is rediculous that the players that are defending themselves are the ones banned as well. i was perma banned the other day for using the word "fuck" not even in an aggressive manner towards other players and i really think that this game has very limited time left giving all of this continuously poorly managed changes. i also believe that Riot employees should be made to watch the game and how the players were acting in game before a permanent ban is given, chat is misleading largely and it is of gross incompetence that this continues and has for 7 years

First of all, defending yourself would be using the mute feature to prevent their flame from reaching you, not flaming them back. There's a difference between self-defense and retaliation.

i was perma banned the other day for using the word "fuck" not even in an aggressive manner towards other players...

Second, I have reason to suspect the above-quoted statement is false. But, if you'd like to prove that that is the case, then you should provide your chat logs from the permanent ban.

...and i really think that this game has very limited time left giving all of this continuously poorly managed changes.

And people have been saying that League has been dying for...What, five years now?

It seems to be an incredibly slow decline, all told.

You know that almost every game bans players for toxicity its not just league.

I’d love to see your chat log involving the non-aggressive “fuck”.

Riot aren't snowflakes(for the most part), the community is.

MagicFlyingLlama12/26/2018, 8:55:13 PM5 votes

Logs or GTFO. Nobody ever got permbanned for saying "fuck" once.

Riot is definitely not a perfect company, but they are well above average. Listening to feedback, avoiding excessive monetization or P2W, constantly releasing free context, actually fixing bugs and testing stuff before release, are all relative rarities in the current industry.

Toxicity is never an answer to toxicity. You will never get punished as long as you're mature and act appropriately.

Being provoked or ridiculed by other players isn't an excuse to stoop to their level.

There are many other disgusting, microtransaction riddled messes of companies that take that title. Riot is far from one of the worst video game companies. In fact, they're on the better side.

I can't comprehend why it's so difficult to understand the idea that if you break a rule, you will be punished.

” But I... ”

Ah ah, doesn't matter.

" But so and so... "

Shhhh shhhh, still doesn't matter.

" What if..."

Noooooo, stop looking for loopholes.

other players and i really think that this game has very limited time left giving all of this continuously poorly managed changes.

As far as I know, League still is the most played game in the world.

Police, Snowflakes?

I mean, someone flung shit at me so I pooped and flung it at them back across the street. I know that we made the area dirty and hit a couple cars, but he started it, so why am I getting arrested for it too!?

How dumb does that sound?

In all seriousness, you were not banned for saying "fuck" in a non-aggressive way. Cursing is completely fucking allowed. You're not allowed to flame, harass, belittle, or abuse other players.

EvilDustMan12/27/2018, 3:47:13 AM3 votes

You did NOT get banned for saying 'fuck'. I suggest posting chat logs and we can help you narrow down exactly why.

TLF brubie12/27/2018, 3:43:57 AM3 votes

When I was a kid, saying "but he started it" did not work as an excuse to not get in trouble. IDK if childhood has changed since then, but someone else being mean shouldn't mean you are allowed to also be mean with no repercussions.

Muting (honestly) only cuts off communication. It doesn’t stop people from being toxic towards one another.

In this Summoner’s defense, and in my own experience, those who are toxic go full tilt, and intentionally drag the game on, don’t FF, flame or convert teammates, steal cs or camps, int/feed, reveal whereabouts in allchat, etc.

Sure, you can report, but YOU are forced to just deal with it for 30-60min, (whether or not you can even see their chat is beside the point). It isn’t right.

Games are meant to be fun, and toxic people are not going to go away. Due process should be included before bans are placed, and that REQUIRES chat logs and in-game footage. I’m all for people defending themselves, and if they are in the right, and the team sides with the victim, then great - rip the offender a new one, AND slap a ban on them.

Zdryh12/27/2018, 9:38:05 AM1 votes

I thought they only banned people for inting like not just "a bad game". I played a number of games - my guess would be around 9k - 10k mark, without issues. I have seen toxicity in my life...

What I hate and always report are afkers that feed and ragequit, players that int for real (even write it in the chat), players that flame their own team and mmr boosters (these are the worst).

I don't think anything else is (or should be) a bannable offence.

Blüescreen12/27/2018, 1:32:42 AM1 votes

Just because they're flaming you doesn't give you the right to flame back, you're never going to see them again in your games and in the slight chance you do, they won't remember you. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Saygari12/27/2018, 1:57:37 AM1 votes

Dude your logic is severely flawed and just post the damn chat logs, its so fucking simple to post the full chat logs because as everyone else has been saying we all doubt that the word "fuck" used in a "non-agressive way" is what got you banned.

Chaos Prime12/27/2018, 2:14:56 AM1 votes

i partily agree with with summoner here. While I doubt that you can be banned for saying "fuck" in a game I will still go against Riot Games and their system. To make things clear I do not support or encourage abuse or actions similar to it but sometimes you cannot just mute. Toxicity is not only written down. It can take many forms. And sometimes you cannot just "turn the other cheek" and it is not right to crack under flaming and bullying. Riot often defends their case as "we have kids playing this game". Alright, what is the objective of the game? To use all your skills to slaughter your enemies and destroy their base. Cool. Suddenly us veteran players should become kid friendly just cause Riot has started to lose more and more players (I wonder why)... Sometimes it is necessary to fught back against flame or to help the teammate that is getting flamed because a valuable life lesson can be learned there. Should we teach kids to always report bad words or bullying to adults? Yes but we should not teach them to be sensitive. Furthermore, Riot does not understand banter and jokes vs actual insults. I was banned two months ago because I jokingly said " Master %%%%%%" to enemy Master Yi. Ofc we eneded uo having fun because it was ARAM. But after that friendly banter I got suspended.(Ill try to find chat logs in the morning as proof since Im writing this at late night from my moblie). So I felt that It was unjustified ban. And I have nothing against gay people. Even some of my dear friends are gay yet thats a bad word to say at Riot. I lost all my hope in Riot and I hope League dies soon, because this is not the game I fell in love with.

Squire Angel12/27/2018, 2:19:52 AM1 votes

I find it highly unlikely that League would ever truly die in the short term. Being a Smite player, it has a much smaller community, and the worlds this tlyear literally only had a viewership of like, 40k people. However, it still has a decent sized player base and continues to draw in new players if not just moderately slowly.

League has hundreds of thousands of viewers for casual streams, and continues to have new players, also at a moderate rate. While there are some moderately questionable things happening within Riot, with the whole sexual harassment things, as founded or unfounded as it may be. This has not yet affected the game itself, and may never.

Hyquiem12/27/2018, 2:23:33 AM1 votes

People who are toxic to a limit where they have more words then kills deserve bans, why? B/c you just took 20 minutes of a summoner and then you basically are being the jerk in the party aswell pushing the dude around by typing so Smith shit. Next to that factor you force him to loose the game b/c your ego is bigger then your skill floor.
