Permanent Ban Story

*** DIsclaimer *** I am not looking for sympathy or rallying for a 'This man doesn't deserve to be banned' Just wanted to share my story and was curious what some of you members of the community think

For some context I have been permabanned twice from League of Legends. My first account was way back in 2012 where at the time I was deployed in Afghanistan. Luckily for me this was back when Riot still handed out their 'Level to 20' challenge. I was able to recover my account. After I returned home from my tour a month later my account was re-banned according to a random audit where I was found to be in violation of the summoner's code. I did not make an account for nearly 6 years.

I obviously decided to return to the game and see where I stood.

My biggest downfall is how I react to other teammates negativity, especially blatant trolling. I view it as a form of bullying and to ignore it is to encourage it in my opinion. Practical people simply mute these toxic players and try their best to win the game. Unfortunately, I'm not above this. While I openly refrain from profanity I can't simply sit by idly when teammates put each other down, etc. I'm sure all of have had these trials when a teammate openly trolls from champ select and then proceeds to single-handedly lose you the game.

So here's the final game. Our support (auto-fill) immediately hovered Yasuo (His summoner name Yasuo1Trick; I bet you know the type) He immediately banned our Mid laners hovered champion and began to flame the team (My main is Diamond, I'll carry you scrubs, etc.) After myself and other teammates tried to urge him to just chill and play he finally locked in Zed (Ghost/Cleanse) and after I asked another teammate to dodge since I was in promos he laughed and guaranteed the loss. The ADC pick locked in GP as he openly admitted in champ select to not caring.

The only other note I will put here is I would have 100% dodged this game if I was not in promos, however dodging is an auto loss during promotions

I addressed the other team to tell them what Zed had done. I also responded to Zed's constant taunting (I told him to shut up a few times) I frustratingly wrote a few times that I was 'over' the game. I actually did mute the Zed a few minutes into the game. Our ADC GP was also caught up in the trash talk started by this Zed and began to relay his messages to me. In the end I played the entire match, was top gold for our team and simply couldn't overcome the actions of one teammate who had no intention of making the game enjoyable or winnable. The other team of course laughed and wanted to honor Zed for the free win.

How would you guys have reacted? Is the proper response to mute the player, don't write anything in chat, and simply 'take' the trolling on the chin and move on to the next game? I'm actually very disheartened that I can't play a game that I thoroughly enjoy because I don't have the temperament to simply be bullied. That is what this Zed did. He held our team hostage and ruined a competitive ranked match.

I don't think I'll ever make an account again and it actually makes me sad that this is the state of League of Legends. It is really unfortunate

I'll ignore him, play,and report him after. Who cares about that promo game, I can earn that rank back if I deserved to be in the higher rank, but I'll never miss an opportunity to report a troll to clean up the community.

I feel you, I am on a 14 day ban for the same stuff, so I still have a chance. What I will do is simply hide the chat and not write xD. I got banned for pretty much the same chat, I am not offensive etc. even thought people tell me to get cancer, I stay cool, but simply for pointing out shit and standing up for myself and the team I get a ban.

This system is heavely flawed and its sad how people still stand behind it. (The real fascists).

I understand that's how the Summoner's Code is presented, however I disagree. I don't believe in censorship and I think that open dialogue between players should be allowed, even if it borders on toxicity. Fear of punishment by not confronting people that are destructive is just a cop-out. At the end of the day most people that play ranked League of Legends are competitive gamers. Having a negative reaction to a negative person isn't something I believe people should be punished for. In fact, there should be chat options to ONLY be able to speak to certain members of your team. I DO understand not exposing your teammates to additional toxicity can be a positive thing, so allow for that.
