RIOT's overly harsh policy against toxicity and leniency with trolls...why???

Funny how the vast majority of the bans are for "toxicity" and are extremely harsh (i.e. instant ban/suspension without warning) while there is the mute option, which pretty much solves the problem. However, one does not see anyone punished for INTing or trolling which pretty much single-handedly ruins the game for at least 4 other people and there is nothing you can do about it (except threaten with a report LOL). So the most common case is that one does not get punished for being an actual ahole and ruining the game for 4 other people but that one guy who will tell the troll to kill himself is the one to get banned. (Like it actually even matters to anyone what a complete stranger says to them in a video game because they are mad and they don't even mean it either)... So I really don't understand the thought process behind that whole report/punishing system since realistically "flamers" have been nowhere near close to as big of an issue for players as the "trolls/INTers" have been. Would someone care to explain why is RIOT's policy so harsh over mere words and not as much over in game actions? item 3070 item 3070 item 3070 item 3363 item 3070 item 3070 item 3070

You only get instant bans if what you say is racist, homophobic, or you advocates ones death.

while there is the mute option, which pretty much solves the problem.

Also an option to not press enter?

However, one does not see anyone punished for INTing or trolling which pretty much single-handedly ruins the game for at least 4 other people and there is nothing you can do about it (except threaten with a report LOL).

Because actual inting and actual trolling is rare. I'm all for outright banning intentional feeders on the spot, but few people actually INTENTIONALLY feed, what happens more often then not is a bad game, and the term trolling is far too broad for any kind of system to accurately do so without punishing innocent players.

So the most common case is that one does not get punished for being an actual ahole and ruining the game for 4 other people but that one guy who will tell the troll to kill himself is the one to get banned.

Report them?

(Like it actually even matters to anyone what a complete stranger says to them in a video game because they are mad and they don't even mean it either).

Then why bother saying it in the first place?

Because it does? You are purposely trying to belittle them and get them to play worst? What reason would you have for insulting players then? Also, you ARE hurting your allies as you are wasting time typing rather then playing?

Jamaree has no clue what he's talking about and obviously is just going to defend what Riot does, one way or the other.

  1. WRONG. I'm currently on a 2 week suspension and was warned that I am "on thin ice." I have NEVER said anything racist, homophobic, or told someone to kill themselves or otherwise "advocated ones death." My level of toxicity is WILDLY minor compared to so many people I see on this game. Yet, for some reason I have been punished quite severely.

  2. Again, he defends Riot without base. So, you mean to tell me, that I have to mute a teammate (someone whom I am supposed to communicate with)… Allow them to take my farm/last hit my buffs/troll me... WITHOUT saying anything (Because saying ANYTHING negative is toxic =WTF=)… And if I do any of that, I get reported and it's considered toxic... Yeah, that's logical (NO, it isn't).

  3. No, you are out of your mind. I even see trolling consistently in bronze ranked games.

  4. I've reported many people for their toxicity, yet I see plenty of truly toxic people that enflame their teams... THEN REPORT THE TEAMMATE THEY PISSED OFF... And the pissed off teammate (Me, other people) are the ones who get punished.

  5. Because communicating with your team in some capacity, socializing, or strategizing, or just being friendly is basically the ENTIRE POINT OF AN ONLINE GAME.

  6. This is true. It still does not adequately counter the point of your teammate being actually toxic and you defending yourself/other teammates... Then Riot for some reason going to town on you.

Yes. Could we please focus on game matching instead of chat quality.

We already have a fucking mute button.

Lets get that stop feeding button working.
