can i just perma mute my team? i rather not be called useless 2 games in a row because my adcs have the brain of a fucking peanut. i wish i could just turn chat off period and make it so i only see pings. i dont want to communicate with my toxic fucking teams. i know im in bronze but come fucking on now. how is it i climb with my main but on this they are putting me with the worst of the worst.
If you want to hide chat go to your league folder in Riot/League of Legends/Config. Find the PersistedSettings.json file and open it with something like notepad or notepad++ and find "Chatscale" set it to -1000 and set the file to read only via properties.
Voila, your chat is hidden. You can still type but you won't see what you're typing and you won't see chat at all and you'll only see smart pings.
Enjoy your chat-free lifestyle.
I've done this and I don't regret doing it at all. Sure league has dumb moments that make you laugh via chat but I've just had too many unpleasant experiences with enemies and teammates flaming and had enough.

i'm not sure which one it is since i've never used either but it's something along those lines
however that doesn't prevent you from typing toxic things even without someone else "starting it"
I just got chat restricted due to the same type of thing. I don't flame other people no matter how bad they play but it is very difficult to ignore getting flamed, especially when they're playing bad and you're trying to carry them. Using chat is just not worth it.
My advice:
Go to settings. Turn Chat HUD all the way down to tiny and move it off the screen. You don't even have to mute all. It's just gone. You won't see spam pings either. I just played a game like this and it went great, felt relaxed all game. Anything worth communicating can be done through pings. Try ten games like this and see if it doesn't improve your mentality.
i feel ya man! i have been trying to climb in honor level since season 7 where i was honor lever 4 and since then i have not been above 1. its only a matter of time before you get partied with a premade group that sucks and they all end up feeding besides 1 and then they group flame you and group report you after. not even because i was bad but because they were a group and did everything together. so i get 4 reports against me and then get chat banned and honor locked because of it.
everyone has their moments but usually im a pretty solid and cool headed player. but when an entire team flames you and steals your cs all game its pretty hard to not say anything.
one thing ive been doing lately and im almost level 1 again, is to just be aware. if i have a game or two in a row where things get ugly i usually take a break. and in my next games i make a point to be aware of it and not say anything at all.
also. lot of times i just get so stoned that playing the game and reading the chat is just too much. so i dont even read chat all match. lol
i also do think that the higher honor level you are, the more lenient they are with punishments. if youre constantly honor level 0 like me, it seems you get banned over the littlest things. while others can say KYS in game all day and nothing happens to them
