We Need In-Game and In-Lobby Reports

Hey, everyone.

There is no end to the amount of toxicity on the Internet. People are rude and crude, but we can fix this issue by improving the report system.

Many times I join the lobby and there is immediate toxicity. A lot of this revolves around my in-game name, which I foolishly changed to match my boyfriend's name. I cannot tell you how many disgusting things I have been told the second I join a lobby, whether I say anything or not. The worst part is that I cannot mute someone in the lobby (although the /ignore "summoner's name" may work, I am yet to try this). Nor can I report them for sexual harassment right away. This is even more frustrating when someone dodges and the person gets away with it without punishment because we never enter a game, thus eliminating the chance to report the player.

Furthermore, I think that the ability to report someone on the spot, both in the lobby and in the game, will help to pinpoint someone's wrongdoings as employees can look at the actual time (in-game or in-lobby) that the report was placed, and thus analyze the legitimacy of the report in a more timely manner. For example, if I report someone at 13:41, then the report should immediately go to that time in the game (or lobby) to pinpoint the offense. Of course, the report should still analyze the entire game and chat logs as a whole to ensure an accurate report, but the pinpointing will ease the process.

I look forward to hearing your opinions on the matters. Have a safe and fun time in the Rift! Muah!

No- every time this is suggested everyone says no. Reporting prior to an offence happening is like calling someone unskilled(its pointless) Until they break the tos, riot won't touch it

Hello again, Chloe. :) (I'm this guy, if you forgot.) A few thoughts on your post:

  1. I like the idea of in-lobby reports. If someone is threatening to go Draven support, with Smite, Cleanse, and Windspeaker's, I'd probably dodge, and I'd like Riot to know who caused me to dodge and lose 3 LP. I back this 100%.

  2. I'm split on in-game reports. What you said about helping Rioters locate the offending game or chat incidents makes sense. Problems that might stem from this, though, are a) an increase in frivolous reports by people who just got angry in the heat of the moment, and b) an increase in the number of people who DC, since some dejected players may only stick around the rest of the game to report the offending player(s).

  3. This isn't really about the idea you propose, but what exactly makes your summoner name so prone to harassment? Other folks have direct references to various, controversial, and strange M-rated acts or objects in their name, but I rarely see anyone talk about their name, let alone harass them for it.
