e-girl, make me a sandwich.

I feel as though Riot needs to add more words to their ban-list or phrases or if they're already on there -- give harsher or more swift punishments. The level of sexism that is on league is astounding, and I'm sure every female gamer can agree (who plays league) that this is true. Every few games there is someone who says something to me whether in all chat or on my team, "egirl". With the common understanding of e-girl being an internet slut or an attention whore, I believe this should warrant a ban under sexism. I don't type anything in game, I literally just play the game, but simply because my screen name is Jennay -- I get harassed. Some might say "then change your name because it's obvious you're a girl?" Why on Earth should I have to change my screen name for this reason? It is not me who needs to change my name, it's the sexism that needs to change. Having my name as my screen name is not offensive, being sexist is.

Then there are those that chime in saying "boosted egirl, send me nudes, women belong in the kitchen, make me a sandwich, eat some chocolate, is it that time of the month, you need to change your tampon, or you need to get your girl on a leash". All of these extremely sexist comments should be punished harshly to discourage this type of future behavior. The issue with reporting sexist comments is that most of the league base players are MALE, therefore when they see someone bullying a girl on league -- they say nothing, because if they do, they are white knights and get bullied along with us. Afterwards, if you ask people to report that person for sexism -- you're met with "LOL EGIRL STFU, RIOT WON'T DO ANYTHING!", "WHITE KNIGHT!", and all sorts of other bullying comments. The end result is that they don't get reported for sexism, because it's a "loser white knight" thing to do. Then all of these guys continue being sexist, constantly calling girls they come across an "egirl", and harassing them. When someone gets reported by both teams (9x report), it seems to get investigated fairly quickly, while reports that are only done by 1 person seems to do nothing. I understand that if they checked every single report, there would be trillions -- which is why you have a computer filtering games for ban phrases and handing out punishments.. But what solution can Riot offer for sexist reports where only 1 person is reporting the offense? Does this person just perpetually go on their way harassing women in the community, and getting the occasional report due to player base ratio of men to women with the off chance they get a game with another female in it in quick succession?

It should not feel like a crime to be a woman and play a video game, but with the constant harassment, it feels like it is. Apparently simply playing a game with a feminine name, playing a female champion, playing support -- warrants "@#$%*&! boosted egirl". I think Riot needs to work on more than just their internal struggle with sexism with employees, it needs to extend to the community's sexist problems as well.

actually all of those things are already detectable

reporting them is the only thing that you need to do now

I get harrassed for having no life, living in my mother's basement and being hardstuck in plat. And I am not making it as big of a deal as you do about sandwich. Make yourself a sandwich and taunt them that you have it and they don't.

Are you actually tracking the games or was that pull out of thin air? Because I find it hard to believe it. Why? I've played with other girls many times (my team) and rarely did I see anyone say something sexist.

There're two scenarios where I see this happening:

  • You introduce yourself as a "girl" during the game. Because you wanted to share what your sex is, you'll get slack. Why? Because no one asked.

  • Your name gives it away in a "in your face" manner. What I mean is something on the lines of "girl gamer 012", "Miss Lily", "girl power", etc. Basically, if your name is specifically to identify yourself as female, then you'll get the same slack as in point 1.

If you don't say anything about your gender and if you have a "normal" name (yours is fine) then I don't think anyone would bother harassing you "every few games".

"egirl". With the common understanding of e-girl being an internet slut or an attention whore

Let's not redefine the meaning of words. Egirl, at best, stands for "boosted player that so happens to be a girl and usually plays support". It has nothing to do with "slut" or "attention whore".

All that is punishable, at least on EU.

Just because the majority is male doesn't mean the majority doesn't have integrity. There's a difference between defeding blunt acts of sexism and defending you just because you're a girl. Besides, no one needs to defend you from anything because words can't hurt you physically and, I assume, you're old enough to defend yourself. What I can do to help the situation is report the behaviour I don't like, regardless of whom it is targeted at.

You don't need to ask people for reports and you shouldn't do it ever. One report, yours, is enough.

That's not how the system works though. As I said above, one report is enough to trigger an investigation. The problem you have here is perception.

A few weeks ago I reported one player that was being sexist, not targeted at anyone but sexist nonetheless, and guess what happened? Instant Feeback Report

They can't police thoughts. What they can do is have systems in place to deal with those people, but you can't stop anyone from being sexist; the offender choses to change on his own accord.

Our job, as a community, is to report unacceptable behaviour. IF the majority agrees, then that behaviour is punished.

I flame people regardless of gender. I don't care if you're an egirl or just an average girl gamer, if you play like shit I will flame the fuck out of you. I may be toxic but at least I'm not sexist :P

Besides Riot won't care about sexist players because they themselves as a company are already sexist lmao.

Good lord, this post is still alive. And now I'm here to help it remain alive. I'm with the guy who said make a sandwich and taunt them that they don't have one.

But on a real note don't let them get under your skin; it's just petty masculine toxicity. Though thinking about it, maybe Riot should consider adding sexism under the "Hate Speech" report option. I'm just wondering if there are any feminist[nazis] playing the game that would abuse it.
