Honestly end of season rewards should be handled differently

I've never been even chat restricted but I feel as though the way end of season rewards are handled is a bit unfair. I feel as though the current system punishes the timing of the offence more than the offense itself. Let me use an example. Player A has been having a rough week and loses his cool when his jungler dies trying to gank. He proceeds to flame his jungler for the rest of the game into the post game lobby. Player A leaves to use the bathroom and when he gets back he has a pop up informing him of his 10 game chat restriction. Player B just went through a rough breakup and is trying to relieve some stress by playing some LoL. Unfortunately she ends up using her mid laner as a metaphorical punching bag a bit too much. She plays another match and when she gets out she is informed of her 10 game restriction.

So both Player A and Player B had similar violations and got equal punishment. The end. Great story.

.....except they didn't get equal punishment. You see, Player A had that bad week back in May while Player B had that breakup last week. Although they made similar violations and received the same restriction, Player A gets their end of season rewards while Player B does not.

This is why I feel season rewards aren't quite fair. Both players should be punished for their actions, not by the timing of their actions. Both players made the same offense but got drastically different punishments. I feel end of season rewards should be handled differently for this reason. I cant think of a solid way of doing this outside maybe keeping track of # of games in honorable standing played compared to dishonorable. I feel as though a system like this would be more fair. Maybe introduce ranked decay on all players in dishonorable standing to force them to work their way back instead of not playing after a restriction?

If I get a 10-day jail sentence right before Thanksgiving, I miss Thanksgiving with my family. If I get the same sentence two weeks earlier, I don't. The sentence is still fair -- my timing was just bad.

Here's the thing: the player who got punished early in the season may have more time to regain Honor, but it's entirely dependent on their own behavior. Some players go "Oh, my bad" and get back to H2 in a few weeks. Other players ride just below the line and can't even get past the first checkpoint.

TBH, that seems a lot more fair than the old systerm, where rewards were flat cut if a player was punished after a specific date.

As far as decaying rank based on honor, that would effectively turn lower ranks into a prisonor's island. Riot won't do that.

As far as 1-off losses of temper... as long as the player doesn't use any of the "zero tolerance" words or phrases, the player will not trigger a punishment. IFS reform cards only include 1-3 examples out of all valid reports. It's a snapshot, not a documentary.

In the previous years, they had this as well.

If someone was 14-day banned 3 months before season ended, they won't get rewards. If they had an active chat restriction when the season ended, they won't get their rewards.

Just because the timing is different this year, doesn't mean it's not fair.

Actually no, I think this season reward is handled amazingly. The Honor rewards suck by most standards. Since people are easily toxic, they could care less about honor and could care less about being penalized. Being nice is irrelevant to toxic players. All they care about is getting the climb and the rewards. So they toss out being nice. As long they don't get banned, other people's feelings are meaningless to them. Riot choosing to enforce their policy to make players less toxic in ranked so they can earn their end season rewards is the best thing Riot implemented.

Rewards go to the deserving or no one at all.

as someone who got a chat restriction earler in the season.. for something completely stupid even tho ive never gotten any restriction since starting the game in season 3.. so i understand where your coming from,... but it also needs to stay the way it is... my only issue with it is how the rewards are tied to Honor Level as well.. and that honor stays locked for X ammount of time i managed to get mine back up to lvl 2 within a month.. but that took way to many games .. i mean they also boosted the honor gain not that long ago for the people to get back up to lvl 2.. but its not noticable

I get you. Anyone who got their honor level reset should be unable to receive the reward until next year.
