Why is it so hard for people to be supportive when you're still learning?

So I've been playing League for little more than a year now, on and off. I've been putting some time into watching tutorials and practising skills, but I gotta admit, I'm not the best gamer amongst gamers. I do however enjoy this game and I want to improve as much as I can because it would obviously make my gaming experience more fun (instead of just dying all the time :) )

When playing Aram, it's all good, really. But as soon as I enter a Summoner's Rift game, even when at the start I tell people that I am still practising and not very good and that all their help is welcome, not even a minute into the game there is so much hate speech! If instead of flaming me and insulting me of every possible thing, reporting me for trolling and feeding, why aren't they just trying to tell me how I could improve rather than being so negative all the time?

Seriously, it's not fun for me to be playing like that, especially because I am trying really hard to pay attention and try the best I can, and I'm not even playing ranked games just because I know I'm not there yet.

Can anyone tell me what to do when this is happening? I can report the ones that do it but it won't improve my gaming experience. I play this game to relax, I get that it can get very competitive out there but that's what the ranked games are for, no? I can't keep playing AI all the time either, that's not how I learn further.

Anyway. I'm a bit disappointed at the players' attitude toward people who are new and/or still learning. They've all been there, they've all started at zero. So a little support would be a lot more helpful than all that negative criticism.

Sorry for the rant. But I don't know what else I can do than ask you guys how I should deal with this? I can mute them in game, but somehow it doesn't feel like that would help..

Thanks :) Bagh

Because the game does not rank/matchmake people correctly. If they were able to do that, and u were playing with folks your same rank, I doubt u will get as many flames as u r getting now.

Hey man. I’m sorry that’s happening to you. I understand what you’re going through. SR is pretty different from ARAM. Also, solo que is completely different from watching lcs or streamers (atleast it is here in NA). It can be very frustrating.

First off, there’s no need to tell your teammates that you are just practicing. Chances are yor teammates are just practicing too. Come up with a plan for your position during loading and just focus on executing that plan. It could be as small as focusing on cs and then plan how you want to help your team take an objective or who to steer clear of on the other team.

Shrug off bad games. After your done playing for the night, think about your games and look for things you did well and things you did poorly. Also que with friends or look for friendly people in a game and befriend them. League is much better with friends. They can also help coach you too.

I hope that helps you Buddy. Keep it up and don’t let a silly game ruin your day. It’s just not worth it. summoner 31

Send me an invite. We ( the people I play with) are usually pretty chill and don't get too upset. We will also be happy to give you as much instruction as we can.

if you were in NA, my husband and I would teach you everything there is, but sadly you're not. anywho, i personally learned by watching streamers and when i say i learned i mean like farming and laning, not the faker shit because that's not what you do early. do that and keep playing until you do meet a group of people that teach you. there are many, many, many streamers, but watch the high elo ones so you can learn how to do things the right way. a really good midlaner called ABlazeOlive recently joined TSM, his farming is exceptional and he's very educational. SoloRenektonOnly is also very good at teaching you about top lane, Meteos is a good jgler as much of a memer he is, you learn a lot. Aphromoo is a designated support player that you learn a lot from. He plays all kinds of supports, so you'll be good to go and you can learn a shit ton by watching Sneaky for AD (he is also a gay memer). Voyboy taught me a lot about mid lane and Dystrex as well for top. Watch their streams whenever you can to learn :) gl

Try not doing it on the weekend or evenings. That's when the little kids are online.

Yeah, we should be nice to each other and not abuse chat to flame people who do badly.

It's all respective. I'm a decent support (but only with Sona), okay at top, slow as heck at jungle, and heaps of trash at mid.

Also why make the effort and try to help someone that you most likely won't see again.

Sadly you are still in the part of the game which is filled with banned people who made a new account. They continue being toxic and rather egocentric thinking they deserve challenger and YOU hold them back. It's quite amazing looking at the difference in accounts before/after level 30(ish).

For what you should do in these moments, mute when they only write stuff or fullmute when they pingspam. Otherwise, play with people who you know are nice/helpful. If you want you can add me and we play some games together (when I'm online which doesn't happen as much as I would want to anymore).

Because people don’t care if your learning they just want you to be good. Samething if your a trainee at some place. They don’t care if you don’t know what you’re doing they just want you to be quick.

1st off, ignore the haters, don't take their low quality salt - I personally preffer salt from consumables. And, no need to mute them, if you can handle the toxicity or even better...try to reason with them if you believe it's possible. Exmple: My premades were duo bot, I was top Shen and our Vayne actually said bot 1st and wanted my premades(who were Xayah and Rakan) to move aside or just accept tripple bot(I agree that if you say a role in blind pick 1st you should take it most of the time, but going tripple bot is not fine). So, I had an idea - I asked Vayne in-game to go duo top with me, since we had jungler(I think?). So, Vayne said "Fine, I'll do it and for you only" and guess what? We got 1st blood on Darius and swapped doran's shield for relic shield. Just like she went duo top for me and me alone, I was her support, and hers alone. She got fed because she was really good against Darius, we took the 1st turret and she carried the game. I honored her because she not only carried the game in kills, butin obkectives as well. And for that and for being reasonable, I honored her over my two premades. I even mocked them because MY adc was better than my premade's. XP

2nd, I support players who try new champions, nothing wrong with exploring amdnbetter knowing them(personally I do this to explore champions I'd want to main to, or to better understand champions I have problems facing against. Sure, cointer tips videos help but it's different when you try that champiom out yourself). In fact, sometimes I honor 1st timers who actually did good with their 1st time champion as a motivation to keep up the good work with that champion or a friendly reminder you can do better only if you try. Example: I tried Varus out, playeda decent amount of games, learned how to play him and I liked it. He's my trusty pocket pick when either Kaisa or Vayne are unavailable and/or if I'm fighting Caitlyn. Overall I enjoy him. Example 2: I played both Illaoi who is a nightmare for my top mains and Yasuo which I'm not really comfortable playing with or against...with few excemptions that is. Trying both of those champions out made me understand and respect them the way I couldn't have until I tried them out. So yeah...

Hope I was able to help, cheers. [slayer-jinx-catface]
