How to stop being a sore loser

I'm currently serving a 14 day ban. Well deserved. I'm taking this time to re-evaluate my attitude towards this game. My current problem is that whenever I lose, I feel cheated. If I have a bad game and lose, whatever. But If I do well, try to involve my teammates, try to make calls etc and still lose, I get so infuriated. I can't accept the loss and I always have to have the last word. I usually come off as "salty xd" but I'm allowed to be salty when I'm the only one doing well and everyone on my team is just giving away free kills and not working together.

Its the sense of entitlement everyone seems to have. Sometimes when you lose just accept the other team played better, congratulate them, and move on.

There's a bit of an unspoken rule in league that I've grown to accept.

The 40/40/20 rule. It dictates that you will lose 40% of your games no matter what. You will win 40% of your games no matter what. And the other 20% of games, your performance will actually affect the outcome.

So when you lose, just chalk it up to the 40/40/20 rule. It helps to cope and accept that those losses were out of your control no matter what. Then recite the serenity prayer. Grant me the courage to change the things I can change, the strength to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference between the two. I don't believe in God, so I just take the God part out and call on my brain to grant me these attributes.

The biggest thing is make sure you are having fun. If you aren’t having fun, you risk getting angry over small things. Maybe play TT, or ARAM. Maybe play less games. But make sure you’re still having fun.

After that, if you’re having fun, then you’re already better off than the other people who aren’t - and that’s all that matters, is fun. Win or lose, who cares, as long as you’re having fun you’re winning :)

I think the major issue that makes a lot of players salty for losing is not crediting the enemy team for winning the game. Its usually something like "jungler never ganked bot so that's why we lost." when more than likely the reason you lost is directly related to the enemy team just playing it better.

The important thing is that you understand you're wrong and have a problem. My advice, don't rage in chat, just say something to yourself. That's the start. Once you can do that without getting too angry, begin to say "How could I have done that better?"

Even if you played it great, the thinking process takes your mind off of anger and helps you calm down. Good luck in fixing yourself, friend!

what helped me a lot is to look at how matchmaking works.

riot keeps you at around a 50% winrate no matter how good you are. that means every time you win you are going to have to lose for it in the future. but every time you lose you will get a future win.

so when i know a loss is going to give me a win soon, it is much less upsetting.

I smell a repeat offender in the midst, no offense, just my spidey senses.

If you're at this point, your best bet is to mute all and just communicate through pings. Not worth saying anything that could potentially result in a perma ban
