Why I'm Finally Leaving. Why I'm Going to Overwatch.

I just played a game today after about a month of not playing and I learned a lot. But not because I haven't been playing League, but rather, because I've been playing Overwatch.

League: I get a little frustrated every time I am losing a game of League of Legends. I don't get mad or angry, but I do get a little upset. Because I'm an average player I win about 50% of the games I play, which means I'm going to be in a position of frustration about 50% of the time when I lose. Because LoL games last from 30-45 minutes, I have to sit on that frustration for a very long time. When the game is over, I can get into another game, and if I start to do poorly again, my frustration compounds.

Overwatch: If you are having trouble in a game and start to get frustrated, you can swap your champion out and get a somewhat fresh start. You don't have to stay in frustration mode for half an hour if you're behind.

Also, if your team is doing poorly, the games tend to end quite fast so you're not in them for a very long period of time. This means that if you normally get frustrated when you lose at a game, you can just hop into another one within literally minutes. I've had league of legends queue times that have lasted longer than Overwatch games.

My point: Overwatch has very clever built in frustration-buffers that make the game more enjoyable as a whole to play. If you're not doing well you can just swap out a champion/hero and go at it again. And because there is no item/level system, it's way easier to get back into the game. Also, if someone on your team leaves the game's queue will find someone looking to enter a game within seconds, so the games are very rarely lost or won because someone lost a connection or RQ.

Overwatch seems to have observed a lot of the short comings of other online multiplayer games and addressed them while simultaneously making a great game. And the learning curve is low to get you into the swing of things. I personally suck at shooters, but because there are a few champions that don't depend on shooting to be important I can still contribute to my team.

And for any of you who played Overwatch; be honest. When you were losing and getting railed by your opponents, weren't you relieved that you could just swap your hero out and get a new one? Wasn't it cool to see that there was no leveling system or item system to displace power levels? The only way you could possibly win was by working as a team, and I think that's awesome.

League and Overwatch are two entirely different games, thats a dumb comparison.

Unless you are getting spawn camped, its really hard to get frustrated in an FPS period. These points are horrible. You are comparing 2 different genres. Just because overwatch has heros that follow similar conventions to league's champions, doesn't mean the two games should be compared.

The reason why league is a frustrating game is because you can clearly see what everyone else is doing from the topdown view. its hard to focus on your own game when every character is clearly visible. In an FPS you can only see yourself so you tend not to care what the other guys on your team play like.

You don't like League because it has RPG like game systems in place. You prefer Overwatch because it's a FPS. Got it.

Unfortunately this is just another "leaving League for Overwatch" post. Most people on the boards get annoyed by these types of posts. These posts pop up every time a new big game pops up.

all of blizzard games are like that. they require no skill or intelligence, they're filled with pink and purple colors, and you get a prize even if you lose. they make games for the lowest common denominator of gamers. this is why sc2 is a build order game, not an RTS. it's why Diablo 3 has no builds, and even built in mechanics to compare items for you. and it's why hearthstone is a cheap MTG knock-off with as much depth as connect 4. it's a formula they follow without exception and i'm sure every one of their employees has a 'how to develop games for idiots' manual sitting on their desks at all times.

Don't know why you are getting downvoted. You bring valid points that are very rational. I guess most league players are pro-league and anti any competitors.

you que up for a 40 min + game then get mad that its 40 Min + there are shorter games and i dont play them because they lack decision making and stragegy you just play whats best and hope the enemy doesnt remember the combo better than you do. league has be come like this so i play it about 30% of what i played before about 2 games daily rather than 8-10 games

We are talking about Blizzard. Activision Blizzard they are not able to make good games anymore. This time is over and ended 2010.

League requires a bit of resilience.

Being frustrated at not winning all the time, every second, just makes you a bad player.
