1 hour play ban for dodging

Can we consider a significantly stronger punishment for dodging? Say give 30 seconds to accept a match from que - but once accepted, if you don't pick a champ, or afk/quit once the match starts, 1 hour que ban. This is more a rant in frustration, but I've spent the last near 2 hours trying to have a single draft match on SR. 2 games started, 2 were early surrender for a quitter and a couple dozen champ dodges. It seems hefty, but it'll really cut down trolls, or people not ready/able to play. I figure that if you click find match to join a que/match - you're ready to click accept, chose a champ and play. If you're not, then you'll consider selecting find match more carefully. Might lose some player base initially for thinking its a bullshit rule, or a few mis clickers, but to have more matches starting, less que BS and more quality of matches, seems like a fair exchange. If anything, can we look to fixing draft dodgers. Thats not a shot at trump.

From a design standpoint, you should understand why they are dodging in the first place.

Did they dodge by mistake cos they couldn't lock in in time cos they were trying to fix the runes? If so, Riot probably needs to add a lock in button when selecting runes.

Did they need to go due to something came up irl? Increasing dodge timers won't deter them from leaving.

Did their power/internet become unstable so they are unable to connect? Kind of harsh to give them a 1 hour dodge when their power comes back in 5 mins.

Did some friends come on and asked if they can play? It would royally suck for the friends having to wait for am hour because of that.

Did they dodge cos there was someone threatening to troll cos they didn't get their role/champ? Then the increased dodge timer is punishing the wrong person.

Did they dodge cos they didn't like the team comp? This is a good scenario where increased dodge timers would hurt them.

Blindly implementing something can quickly become a bad design, and would end up frustrating people or it doesn't have any effect. You need to understand the problem space first before jumping to a solution.

That said, which part of the problem space are you trying to solve with increased dodge timers?

I'm not too fond of this suggestion -- something I may accidentally spill a drink, or get a message from a buddy who wants to play, or be asked to do something quickly, or anything else that takes significantly less than an hour. Telling me I have to choose between an hour penalty or AFK-ing for the first 2 minutes of the game and putting my team at at actual gameplay disadvantage/making my buddy wait upwards of half an hour when all I really want to do is play a game with him is a bit silly.

I could see increasing penalties for repeated dodging -- but that's already a thing that exists! So I'm not sure that this is really adding much other than making those times when there are legitimate reasons to dodge feel even worse.

I think the only way to reduce dodging is to tie a honour penalty to it. For example, for every dodged game, your honour progression is halted (NOT REDUCED) for the next 5 games unless you dodge again within those games, then you have to wait another 10 games to be able to advance in honour etc.

After all, is dodging honourable?
