Correcting The Block List Feature

Let me propose a major change to how the block list works and is used in League of Legends to better the quality of the gaming experience for all.

Currently, the only thing the block list allows you to do is stop you from seeing messages typed from a certain player/hearing their pings/seeing their emotes. A band-aide fix at best, as it does not address the reason you have added them to your block list. The person also does not stay blocked if you are matched into another game with them and this also needs to be addressed.

So, what can we do to fix the block list feature?

  •Extend the block list to match making. – Most important. I would like to see the match making system treat players on my block list as though they do not exist to me. This means that players will not be forced to participate with other players that have given them bad experiences in the past and vice versa.

  •Ask players why they have blocked another player, multiple-choice style, a tally of the answers could be shown on the person being added to the block list’s profile. Who wants to play with a known afker or a feeder for example. This would allow the person to address their own behaviour and perhaps having this change would cut down on the amount of reports being made as players could avoid the griefers by adding them to their block list.

I would also like to see;

  •The block list back on the side bar along with your friends list.

  •Your most recently played with on the side bar along with your friends list.

Riot I would like to say this clearly. People who are on my block list are there for a reason. They have proved to me, in one way or another, that they do not have the goal of having fun while trying to win the match as their highest priority as I do and they would much rather bring the rest of the team down for their own pleasure. People on my block list are people that I do not like. I do not want to be matched with them in any queue. I do not want to see them at all. And, I certainly do not want to play with them again, ever. Please take this into consideration while reading this. I’m not saying I am the best at the game, not by a long shot, and I am sure there are people out there who would block me. I still think that extending the block list in the way that I described is needed.

Can this change to the block list be made?
