Punishable Offences with Friends

Hey all! I was playing a 5 man with some IRL friends while also calling over League voice and I was thinking about the things my friends and I were saying both in voice and in game. I was curious about what one could be punished for, if any, of the following

  1. Things said over League Voice - Is this something that Riot could monitor (I assume not...?) What if a pre-made reports you for something you said over League Voice?
  2. Private messages - Discussions held with friends over League Client
  3. Things typed in-game - Can you get punished for saying something even if you're not reported? (i.e. in a 5-man where you type something to team only and friends don't report) Or just in general, does League's system auto-punish people without them being reported

Sometimes I just get worried about what I'm saying with my friends :') Thanks for reading!

  1. As far as League Voice Chat goes, AFAIK Riot doesn't punish for behavior in League Voice since it's exclusive to parties, and Riot runs on the assumption that what gets said in VC is between people who know each other and are okay with it.

  2. Private messages, to my knowledge, can be punishable, but in general they're regarded as opt-in. If someone starts being especially awful in DM's, screenshot their chat and send it to Player Support, and they'll look into the player's behavior.

  3. If nobody reports you, you won't get punished. The IFS only reviews your behavior if someone reports you, so if you spend all of a match just flaming your five-man premade and nobody reports you - from either the enemy team or ally team - the IFS won't be pinged, and it won't bother to review/punish you.

The IFS needs a report in order to know that someone's behavior needs to be reviewed, so, no report = no review = no punishment.

  1. Not sure, I would think no since it's an opt in. Could try asking support about it

  2. Again, since it's an opt-in private messages aren't punishable except extreme cases (Seen a few of those on the boards)

  3. If no one reports you the IFS won't check the game so you'd be fine. Unless you type stuff you shouldn't in all chat and an enemy reports you.

Nope, Riot has never made any mention of monitoring League Voice or it being under the same ruleset if it was monitored.

Generally no, just because they have to be opted in to. When you add someone you're accepting the fact that they can send any message to you.

I imagine the only threat they would take very seriously is IRL threats or threats about breaking the law such as saying they're going to commit a crime with specific details.

There is no auto-review system, all games require you to be reported for a manual or automatic review to take place.

That being said, just because you guys are in a 5-man premade doesn't mean someone can't randomly report you for certain things. For example if you were to call each other a homophobic slur as a joke and an enemy randomly decided to report you for hate speech for whatever reason, the system would still detect that as a violation of the rules and you would be punished.

Generally speaking, if you think it's breaking the rules, it's best to just say it in voice comms.

If you say some dumb shit in game and the enemy reports you for something completely unrelated, you'll still get punished. So don't.

Aside from some random salty bad on the other team smashing report on everyone, it is unlikely anything would happen in a premade.
