Losing LP for AFK behavior

I’m curious what the proper procedure is for when a player needs to restart their client during a game. My last game I was having major FPS drops and couldn’t diagnose the problem, but the game was unplayable with 2 FPS so I restarted my client. I rejoined the game as soon as I could. We won. I lost 20 LP. Is there a way to avoid this because after having it happen multiple times I’m getting very discouraged for being punished while trying to play my best.

i dont know the exact time but i think if youre gone for more than 3min 30 seconds, you're "out" of the game.
