Punishment in LoL

Needless to say, we all know the frustrations of playing League of Legends. The game requires a high intensity of skill and understanding of mechanics. This causes the game to be more stressful than most. We all want to win, some more than others.

But there is a line, when you're so obsessed with winning you only focus on that goal, you forget to be respectful to other players. We ARE in fact a community, and thus we should maintain a level of pleasantry in order to keep the game worth playing. This was the goal of RIOTs ad campaign based around players being nice to each other, and the numerous bans on high ranking accounts such as loltyler1 and Vasilii (though Vasilii might have been a bit more than just wanting to win.) There is plenty of sense in this manner of banning accounts. Players that routinely harass others with only the goal to win in mind.

However, there are far too many people being banned for responding to behavior that many would consider much more toxic. Players that go into a game and INT for example, should not have to be treated with respect. Players that grief games do not deserve pleasantries. I would say that we all agree to that.

This is where I point out a single flaw in Punishment in LoL. That is it.

The Instant Feedback System scans chat-logs for any language that may be considered unseemly, but doesn't take into account any of the actions of the players within the game. Is there an Instant Feedback System for behaviors that could be considered Griefing? I personally do not believe it works, if it exists at all. Throughout 6 years, the number of times I have gotten feedback on the SERIOUS reports I have filed is close to 0. Not a single time in 5 years. Over 1000 games, nearly 30,000 minutes of in game time, and many of those times I have run into people who either INT, or refuse to communicate, or do something many would consider a bannable offense. REAL things that affect the game.

I am sure the rest of you have run into them too. And it does not feel very good during, or after a game like that. Not only is it a waste of time, but several games of this in a row can have you down. Make you actually not want to play. So why is it players like this see less bans than players who may use offensive language against them. After this many games of this, even Phreak would lose his marbles.

Just something to keep in mind. Have fun,

Sincerely, Someone that used to like this game

TL;DR Bring back the tribunal because it was a more effective way of letting the community decide over a robot that doesn't know different

Rito fanboys incoming: "But its harder to detect! They are gettin' banned too" "He just had a bad game"

BTW, thank you for pointing this problem out! Up you go!

Justifying toxic responses to toxic behavior isn't really going to help the situation. I think it would actually make it worse because it's basically giving a free pass to be toxic to other people based on what one person believes is toxic behavior... and if you've seen the forums, a lot of people disagree as to what they think toxic behavior is... so it will probably turn into a shit storm of toxic behavior because everyone feels justified in being toxic.

Maybe mitigating the punishment because someone else caused it may be something they can look at, but flat out saying someone doesn't have to be respectful to another player because that person is toxic isn't going to be the answer.

Yep been saying this for years, the staff that develops this type of punishment system is incompetent and lazy. Writing a script that simply scans the chat log and can be written in a matter of minutes really does not require any skill at all. The staff that has developed this system needs to be fired. #tribunal

So you want to treat your fellow players with disrespect and be exonerated because "He did it first!" This is a childish line of reasoning. Try to be more mature.
