I disagree. The most basic, baseline communication can be handled through pings, but any complex communication/strategizing can only really be done through chat.

I can't ping that I'm going to solo-split push bottom lane to create pressure for Baron, I can't ping for my teammates to ward an area and clear wards as I'm preparing to gank, etc.
