I recently reported a player for private messaging me on stream saying and I quote "kys you a dog" I submitted a ticket and this player never got banned. It's kind of insane that Riot doesn't really care about what happens out of game even though he was flaming throughout the game. As a player that has been permabanned before and now reformed I never said anything this toxic but still got banned, I don't know how this player got away with this. Yikes!

I wish people would learn that including this kind of statement when they're trying to make a point will never work in your favor. Don't deflect the seriousness of your own punishments onto someone else, it kills the credibility of what you're trying to get across.

To send a private message, someone must be on your friends list.

People on your friends list are, as the name suggests, your friend.

You have total control over who is on your friends list and can change that at any time.

When you consider the above 3 statements, for what purpose do you want Riot to police private messages?

Good, I'm sick of report brigading in games

I'm willing to bet that 99% of reports are just by salty players stuck in the heat of an "I got you now" moment

rageporting is an issue, leading to mundane offenses resulting in heavy handed punishments

Out of game PMs are all opt-in. You physically need to add the person to your friends list to receive a PM. In game comments are not opt-in, and arent your friends nor are they private messages.

I literally played a game not too long ago against a player that went 2/17 that trashed talked our team all game. He tried sending myself & everyone on our team friend requests after the game, simply so he could be toxic to us in PM's too. Obviously I declined his request & blocked him from spamming friend requests.

The moral of this story is if there's a teammate being toxic (regardless of the team they're on) & they friend request you afterwards, always decline those as they'll most likely be even more toxic than they were in game. Riot Support can't do much (if at all) about PM Toxicity, so your best bet is to not accept friend requests from unfriendly players.

If players start quittingthe game because of private messages outside of game, Riot will do something about it. Until then, its not a serious issue for them. Remember, riot isnt a moral authority, they only make the rules to deter things that cause people to quit their game.

If you are looking for immediate feedback on private message punishments, then you have the wrong expectations.

Private message punishments require manual review, the review team is severely back logged and after they are done, they have to abide by privacy policies, so they won't be giving you any feedback on the results of the investigations.
