How does wintrading work

Hey guys!So recently I learned about a type of cheating called "wintrading".As far as I know wintrading is when up to four players, two from each team work together to earn elo.The way it works is game after game the first team throws, then the other game the other team throws etc. This way all four players give wins to one another and earn elo, ergo the name"wintrading".Now,My problem is how does this benefit the players because, first i heard this is done with boosted accounts wich noone benefits if they earn elo and second, if they go back and forth with wins then doesnt it make the effort pointless? I mean 4 losses and 4 wins are equal arent they? Pls let me know if Im wrong and maybe help me understand.

As far as I understand, all it takes for it to be considered "wintrading" is a single person on the opposing side throwing the game in exchange for some sort of compensation from you.

The compensation doesn't have to be a wintrade in return on the same account nor does it have to be in the form of wintrading in general. It could be for something more greedy like wintrading for money.

It's only 3 players and whichever team has 2 players of the group gets to win with the 1 person on the other team throwing. If all 3 get on the same team they try hard. This way those 3 players will gain at least 1 net win for the team every game + the better chance of winning when premade as 3 on the same team = tons of elo.

Pretty sure when you get promoted you're protected from demotion for a couple of games, so I guess thats when they switch if they bother switching at all.

And 4 wins doesn't always equal 4 loses depending on the account MMR.

Boosters have many throwaway accs, mainly high dia ones with masters+ mmr, these are used later at night(3-4 am), since it's almost 100% to meet each others. They probably don't really care about accs that are losing mmr from loses, mid-high dia mmr acc can still be sold for nice money. They target one acc that will always win(either by trade or bcs they have trio) and they keep on doing small things that will throw games, like this, they can boost as far as challanger.

Gain 21 LP, lose 17 LP. Net gain over 2 games 8 LP.

Usually you gain more LP for a win, than you lose for a loss.
