penalties for people who leave match entirely should be more severe

with the ease of matches tilting and the relative apathy of most players to report others for doing something wrong unless it directly effects them, people who leave the game should suffer more than a few minute penalty for leaving a match.

I know that after some leaves depending on how many games played the player gets warned and banned but thats too little too late.

I think the penalty should begin at 15 minutes then 24 hours then 7 days then 14 days then perma ban unless they can prove that their leaving was not their fault. Also it should take a month to go down a punishment level instead of 8 hours.

People seem to use the slap on the hand a free 1-3 get out of jail free card every day, which ruins an entire match for 9 other people when they do it. 6 minutes is a joke.

I get that someone might accidentally disconnect but couldnt league like ping the ip and if it was still reachable then they'd get a stronger ban. Obviously this wouldnt effect people who simply turn their computers off but it's still better than nothing and might at least deter a few people.

Alternatively perhaps people could be placed into various groups depending on how dependable they are. That way people with good connections and who never leave wont have to worry about leavers, people with bad connections and leavers can improve their behavior or internet to work their way back up.

How does one prove that however?

A person with a legitimate disconnect because of ISP trouble is going to look the same to Riot as someone who intentionally disconnected the cable or turned off their network device.

A person with an actual emergency and left the game closing the client or hitting the afk timer is going to look the same as someone who just closed the client because they didn't want to play any more.
