When i play a game i make sure that if I'm already mad or in a bad mood i don't play cause why make my self even angrier but when i do play why am i the bad guy for getting mad at the 0/15, 32 cs ap midlane ezreal? should i just sit there and be like its fines we can still win its not like there 23/1 trist is unbeatable. should i just say you can do it next game just try harder! No he should be told that he is bad and need to improve outside of ranked i dont understand why people are such pussy's today when i call some one trash or tell then to just leave it would be better for the game. I don't say that to people who don't deserve it i say it to the people that don't understand that there wasting my time by being so bad. I can play 2 maybe 3 game before i just have to get off because of how retarded the player base is. In normal's i don't really care thats were you go to get better and try new stuff out but in ranked i don't think being angry or toxic is really a bannable offence its like doing a job with 4 other people that all said "Ya i can do that" and then on guys just starts lighting everything on fire should i just sit there and let him keep lighting things on fire or should i tell me him to fucking stop and leave? I'm not the best player and im not perfect but i understand how the game works and how to play i don't really ever get over 5 deaths before 20 mins and i don't argue with people that get mad at me for ruining there game were there going 4/0 and i'm 0/5 cause i fucked up i play safe i try not to feed and tell them my bad cause it is my bad i messed up i should be getting yelled at and shit talked i didn't play right in the real world if you fuck up people are going to point it out and not nicely so people need to stop being such little bitches.

P.S i might not have put this into the exact way i would say it and any counter points are welcome please try and change my mind i think being "toxic"/angry is vital part of the game if people want to know how bad they are. And people should be flamed if there bad in ranked.

Here is my two cents in regards to anti-toxicity:

For one; it's tilting. You bring down morale a lot by flaming. Imagine being killed once by a mistake by the bot lane and then again by a good gank? You're already kind of annoyed. Now add the midlaner saying, after these two deaths, "Are you actually fucking retarded? Boosted AF."

Now, you're agitated. Yeah, you're not doing that great, but I don't need you being a dick on top of it. Even if it's slight, that players attitude and decision making is now a bit tilted.

For two; It's distracting. Yeah, yeah. The mute button is there. Blah, blah. But if you're someone like me who likes A LOT of communication with the jungler/engager/support, it's annoying to have to mute someone that you need in a fight or a good follow up. When someone is blowing up the chat, whether you respond or someone else, you are distracting people.

Lastly, you don't have to rage to let someone know they're doing poorly.

"Hey, man, the decisions you're making are not the best. Play safe/don't engage/stick by me/tell them what to do and improve on in a short way. "it's all good. We got this. Just do this."

It's okay to be angry, but being angry is never a justification for turning into a jerk.

Telling someone they're bad and that they need to improve X is one thing. Downright flame and insults are another one.

There is a difference between saying :

##"You suck." / "You're bad."

and

##"You're fucking useless, just go afk you ret*rd."

Flaming doesn't solve anything. Giving advice is something you can ( and should do ) with your teammates if you see them repeating their mistakes.

Being toxic is bad for multiple reasons :

  • you spend time flaming/doing something that isn't playing in order to show how mad at your teammates you are
  • your actions have consequences on your teammates : most people getting insulted won't play better

Also, assuming you can get yelled at "because you fucked up" is...fucked up. What now, you can't make mistakes anymore? You have to play perfectly beginning to end? It's impossible.

We're human. We make mistakes. We do stupid stuff.

Why should you be flamed/yelled at because of something EVERYONE experiences? It makes no sense.

If a teammates makes mistakes, give him advice, guide them on what they should do. If a teammate is being toxic, mute and report. Arguing with a toxic player is gonna make you waste time and lose your temper. Just ignore them.

If you consider that someone is ruining your game by how they play and you feel that you have the right to flame them, you're wrong.

You can technically flame. Nobody's stopping you.

It's just that you don't do so because you're a decent human being. You respect strangers, even if they are bad.

...but in ranked i don't think being angry or toxic is really a bannable offence...

The operative words here being "(I) don't think".

Whether you like it or not, whether you think it should or not, or whether you want it to or not, the rules apply the same to all gamemodes, ignoring Customs.

If you're playing with other people, you should treat them with some modicum of respect. Calling them "trash" does not serve to help them get better, and it sure as shit ain't respectful, so instead of calling people trash, consider falling back on the old adage; "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

As for your question in the Title of the post...

Why is being "toxic"/Angry in a game were you have to rely on your teammates a bad thing?

This is gonna be broken down into two parts. Being angry, and being toxic (in other words, channeling that anger at other players).

In terms of being angry - anger is not necessarily a bad thing. Anger is just a part of the human condition, but not handling your anger well can be detrimental. Letting it run rampant, or even trying to smother it, can both lead to awful negative outcomes. You have to learn how to appropriately handle your anger without letting it spill out and be a detriment to others.

And being toxic is pretty much the definition of failure in that regard. Taking your anger out on your teammates does a number of things that ultimately add up to increasing the chances of losing that match. For one, it causes people to dislike you because you're just being a toxic jerk, which then ruins team cohesion - making people less likely to team up with you and work towards the win, solely to spite you for calling them "trash".

And if people aren't playing to spite you, they're still likely going to play worse than they did before you harassed them - because being insulted lowers team morale, making people play worse. And even if they weren't specifically subject to your insults and attacks, they still have to deal with it, because they had the misfortune of being put in the same team as you. Nobody likes a toxic jerk.

And lastly, the biggest detriment of toxicity is that you're focusing more on the person you're railing against than the game itself, making YOU play worse as a consequence. The more you choose to flame and call people trash, the less you're actually committing to doing what you can do to improve your odds of winning.

There is ultimately some merit to toxicity as a means of venting anger, but the drawbacks so heavily outweigh it, and there are so many other means to venting anger and frustration, that you really have to ask yourself;

"Is it really worth it to flame someone if it means we're more likely to lose?"

...in the real world if you fuck up people are going to point it out and not nicely so people need to stop being such little bitches.

This is so far from accurate that it's funny.

But, hey - look at it this way; if you flame and call someone trash and be toxic in general, that is (to use your example here) you "fucking up". And when you get reported and punished, that's Riot pointing it out, and not nicely. So why complain when Riot points out when you fucked up?

...i think being "toxic"/angry is vital part of the game...

Being toxic is not an intrinsic part of the game. It's not even an intrinsic part of competition in general - you cannot possibly make a valid point depicting toxicity and detrimental vitriol as being an inherent part of League of Legends - or any other competition or game, for that matter - because it's just not true.

Games are meant for having fun, not wasting your time to rail against people for no good reason.

And people should be flamed if there bad in ranked.

If that's the case, then people who flame should just be outright banned. That's a good compromise to make, right? One outrageous thing for another.

Malefic Reality9/21/2018, 9:19:44 PM3 votes

Because projecting your anger onto other players and tilting them because you are tilted makes the game less fun than it already is. Because just like you have to rely on them so that they can win, they have to rely on you who could be talking about how you wish you had a useful (insert role here) and glorifying the enemy role while demonizing your allied players. Negativity doesn't inspire people to play better, it only promotes them wanting to play worse.

MagicFlyingLlama9/21/2018, 8:37:24 PM3 votes

I dont know about you, personally, but most functional adults do not see a brat having a screaming meltdown as a useful or constructive team member.

Kei1439/21/2018, 8:37:21 PM2 votes

Man, that wall of text.

Just to answer your topic, what does being angry at your team mates do? High possibility you'll just tilt them even more and make them play even worse.

Colgate Gator9/21/2018, 8:53:55 PM2 votes

Because you're assuming the rest of your team has the obligation to put up with your shit.

Being toxic/angry is not bad at all. But riot thinks it is,so yeah.

Darien, you have either an anger management issue or real life mental issues that need addressing. If you had simply asked a question and asked us to explain to you what the right thing is, we wouldn't have downvoted you. But instead, you started attacking everyone who isn't as good as you as useless and worthless. Which means you don't care about anyone you play with. Not even about yourself. You are worse than the "Inhuman" machine IFS system.

I mean, look at you. You're silver 5 and you've been Silver the last few seasons. I'm diamond. You're basically trash and garbage to me. If I encountered you in a game, completely murdered you in lane and told you to uninstall and you're worthless and to go f*ck yourself, I bet you would feel good about that, now wouldn't you?

Wouldn't it be better if I just destroyed you and then said "gg wp"?

If people want to know how good they are, why would it be a good idea to rely on the opinion of a stranger on the internet who is acting tilted?
