Let's Talk About Inters (and the Solutions to Stop Them!)

Intentional Feeders: Everyone's favorite players on the Rift! Whether you took their champion during a blind pick, "stole" their farm while pushing in their lane after a successful gank, or didn't help them while they were already 0-3 at 5 minutes, intentional feeders don't really do much good for the community, the exuberant amount of toxicity found within it, or your LP. Today I thought I'd take some time to recommend some things that Player Behavior, along with some of the other departments could do to prevent this epidemic.

From Bronze to Challenger across every region, intentional feeders have been known to ruin games daily, leaving 4 players at least frustrated with a potentially winnable game. I feel that most people understand the characteristics of your average intentional feeders, so I'd rather move on to the solutions, and if you have any questions feel free to ask below.

One of the first thoughts that came to mind when thinking about this was utilizing match data to automatically recognize an unusually high number of deaths in a game, but preferably pinpointing a moment in the game that this potential int feed began. In order to determine what would be deemed an unusually high number of deaths for a player, you would just need to identify a death ceiling per 'X' minutes or of 'X' deaths per game. This could be accurately identified further by specifying it due to the champ played, the ELO of the player, or even by the match-up the player is in. Players who exceed the ceiling, which has now been set at a relatively liberal spot, should have their accounts flagged in some sense, creating heightened sensitivity when paired with reports for intentional feeding.

Another really easy one to identify is the good ol' Disco Nunu. Playing Nunu shouldn't be a banable offense but running the summoner spells summoner 1 combined with summoner 6 should be a massive red flag, and should have similar interactions with a single report for intention feeding. I, nor most other players, have ever seen these two summoner spells coupled together successfully, and for fair reason. The summoner spells have very little synergy together on any champion, and are synonymous with intentional feeding across the community.

I have a few more ideas on how to actually try and make player behavior within League of Legend, somewhat more consistent and enjoyable but most of them are just that, ideas, and ones that need a lot of thinking and innovation to make work. So it's safe to say most of the others aren't really ready.

Regardless, intentional feeding often goes without punishment and time as the community and as the developers to look to improve the state of our game and the behavior of players before it's too late.

It's incredibly frustrating because players are left with literally zero recourse - it's a huge part of the reason I've gone on hiatus. People cannot be asked to:

a) Care that this is a competitive game and take it seriously b) Learn their respective roles and play them properly c) Play from behind when shit hits the fan

I cannot, as a player, tell them to fuck off and stop wasting my time because the rift is now a safe space monitored by some higher power more interested in punishing people who make people feel bad rather than the source of frustration.
