Too easy to abuse the report system? Can't talk back to toxic players without ramifications?

Hey there,

I've got a couple of Qs regarding the Report/Punish system on league. If you can help clarify some of these, that'd be great!

  1. If a toxic player/troll starts cursing at you for whatever reason, is it not recommended to talk back? Is the best advice here to take the 'high road' every time and just mute them?

  2. If you do cuss back, are you in jeopardy of getting punished yourself (even though your profanity is completely justifiable)?

  3. What is the point of chat filter if you can still get punished for cursing? Why not just block it out all together?

  4. Is it true that getting banned is much easier nowadays b/c of Riot's smart business ploy (to make players create new accounts and buy more Skin/RP)?

  1. Muting is certainly the safest option in regards to defending yourself from flame/harassment.

  2. Profanity itself isn't what is punishable. The way the language is used, is. There is a difference between; "fuck that hurts" and "fuck you you degenerate."

  3. The chat filter is there for those who don't wish to see profanity. Again, profanity isn't what is being punished.

  4. That is a conspiracy theory. It isn't easier as much as faster than the Tribunal days.

1 - Yes

2 - The rules apply to everyone. You're not exempt from the rules if they start insulting you first.

3 - You can't get punished for cursing unless the curses are derogatory. You can get punished for insulting people. For example: Fuck that was a nice kill = fine Fuck you Veigar = not fine

4 - That's for you to believe or not, but think about what you're suggesting for a moment. You're suggesting that a good way to encourage a player to spend more is to take away all their progress and previously bought content. They then have to make the decision to buy more optional content completely on their own now while under the impression that they can lose their stuff.

Ask yourself this, if you're kicked out of a store and all your membership benefits get taken away does your desire to spend money at that store increase or decrease?

This one has me interested because people always say it totally ignoring people's reaction. Idk who gets an account perma banned, then is like "I am going to spend ALL THE MONEY!"

  2. Its bad enough having one prick bitching and blaming in chat, you adding to that is not justified. I dont want to listen to one guy being a bitch, how is two bitches suddenly justified? Yes i will report you too and you will be in jeopardy. Grow some thick skin or mute and focus on the game.
  3. Chat filter is very easy to circumvent with purposeful misspellings and symbols.
  4. Dont know, never been punished.

Just because someone is being an ass. Does not mean you have to be an ass.. muting them isnt taking the high road its saving you the headache of a toxic person.
