"If someone makes you uncomfortable in game, report them."

That was the tip of the day.

To me, this seems like good advice. If it's a legit conern (i.e. a 'valid' report) then maybe action can be taken.

If not, no harm done.

Thoughts?

Yeah, that's why we still have a report system. If you think that their behavior is in any way detrimental, you should report them and move on.

The problem is the word uncomfortable is incredibly relative and easily abused. Not just any kind of discomfort should be reportable.

I'd love to but the report button is at the result screen. I settle with mute (just mute. Muteall is overkill) until I reach that point if the issue is chat-related.

Someone told me they loved me and I'm weird about intimacy so, yeah...reported. Good tip Rito

Some people are overly sensitive though

Supposedly the IFS learns through what behavior players report.

So if you report someone for something frivolous, assuming that's true, you actually are causing a small amount of harm. Literally anything you can say will make someone somewhere uncomfortable. If this tip gets followed the system will just keep penalizing more and more behavior until the only possible way to avoid punishment is to not use chat at all (though it will take quite a long time to actually get there).

Honestly and sincerely, I'm sick and fucking tired of tech companies generating spaces for dialogue and interaction and then completely ignoring ten thousand years of societal evolution and pumping out low-resolution feel-good garbage like "if someone makes you feel".

Do you think it's an accident that every civilized culture in the world has developed a system of laws that clearly delineates what is and isn't acceptable behavior? Do you think it's a coincidence that these sets of laws between societies have far more in common than they have different?

Maybe read a fucking book and put more than 10 seconds of thought into things before you throw out this kind of low quality trash that's just encouraging people to have the ATTITUDE that they should report other people for anything and everything.

THAT'S TOXIC
