Rune Changes are Nice, but what about the IP/RP for Runes and Rune Pages?

So, I'm pretty excited about the runes and masteries changes, even if I do feel like I'll miss the ones we have now, but I'm more than a little worried about investing into runes and rune pages now. As of right now, I've purchased 10 rune pages with RP (this adds up to 3190 RP or about $25), 7 of which I bought a day before I found out about the changes. On top of this, I'm still working on buying the runes themselves, and have probably dumped well over 10-20 thousand IP into them. I'm sincerely worried about Riot being willing to refund this much, as this adds up to many tens of hours of playtime and I haven't seen any mention of refunding the IP or RP costs involved. Because of this, I've no clue whether or not it's safe to buy runes right now, which sucks, because I had just started working on a couple after buying 7 new pages.

Aside from this being of huge personal loss to myself and others who are in the same situation, this also creates worries concerning new players who are just coming into ranked. If I had just started my ranked season after hitting 30, I'd be extremely tempted to buy a few runes for my two free pages. Unfortunately, I'd be scared to buy them, even when going without them puts me at a strict disadvantage, because come November all that IP would be wasted and I could've just bought 4-5 new champions for the investment I'd have put into buying a decent variety of runes.

Can we get a simple yes or no answer on whether or not our IP and RP will be refunded? I know that last time there was a big balance change to runes, there were small refunds because of price changes of around 200 IP per rune that was changed, but now we're dealing with a much bigger IP loss. On one hand, I feel that there would be an outrage if they weren't refunded (possibly even a lawsuit), but on the other, I feel that there is a big incentive for Riot NOT to refund the IP at the very least, because having less IP to work with encourages newer players to invest real money into the game to buy champions. While I've never felt Riot's bottom line to be pushed so forcefully, I never feel comfortable when a company has a chance to make a money-making decision like this.

For the time being I'm genuinely afraid to buy runes, and I think any new player would feel the same way.item 3070

The only thing i do care about is the refund of the RPs i have spent for rune pages. I have all the champs already so i don't care that much about IP, but RPs on the other hand are real life money that i could have spent on other skins :/

I'm pretty sure they'll compensate, I've spent over 150k ip on runes/pages

First, this shouldn't be on the player behavior boards.

In the video for the new runes and honor system they said they would compensate for what you have invested in the current rune system. They did not say nor should we expect a full refund of any sort, but there will be some sort of compensation.

I have similar concerns; especially regarding ip. It should not go unnoticed how much time is spent in building new rune pages for champions, (especially including the cost of a new champion). i doubt its ideal for RIOT but i do not spend RP or, for that matter, use shards, for anything i can purchase with ip. This shouldn't be a profit motivated decision. I'm excited for the changes and would be disappointed mainly because I see Riot as a model corporation in game design and corporate ethics as well as being generally respectful of the wishes of it's community.

They're giving an epic skin permanent shard for every four rune pages you bought rounding up.
