Why I am officially done with Riot games as a company

Many of you (I know the community that stalks around the forums) will down vote this I am sure, but I dont care.

recently I was one a two week ban because I call people bad in my games (boohoo get over it), I have NEVER and would never be RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, or just blatantly do something that could be seen as a REAL LIFE crime.

this is the unfortunate thing about riot games. they dont punish people based on what could be seen as a REAL crime, they punish people based on what the TROLL community believes is offensive.

one major trend in this game that I always see is there is always a 0/10 (hypothetically speaking, a player doing VERY under par) on the team, and this player is generally the one that is talking about how they are "just having fun, its just a game" -- this is fine BUT, i believe that if this player has the right to play whatever way they want to play, they should have a decision to make, and that decision is to either 1. ACCEPT that they might make some people pissed off and might get called bad OR 2. play better/apologize if they are preforming under par. getting called bad has never, and will never bother me (because it doesn't matter) but I get why someone, including myself call people bad. its our way of venting our frustration about this player. riot doesn't get that players who do bad/trolls/griefers they get the CONTROL the pace of the game.. if ONE player wants the game to be shit, they can feed or just not play properly.. and then riot says "the other 4 players in the game MUST accept this for the minimum 15mins or THEY WILL GET BANNED" - try putting yourself into a real life situation.

imagine being at work and getting told to do a 20 minute task with a co-worker (this co-worker makes the same amount of money as you and has the same task) now imagine that coworker did nothing the entire time and you guys were unable to complete the task (equivalent to losing a game) and then your boss reprimanded both you AND the coworker. you would be upset but you might be fine the first time. NOW imagine you get this task again and once again this coworker isnt doing anything, but you know you will both be at a loss if you dont get it done so you work EXTRA hard to get it done and you complete the task (win the game 4v5), now you're happy. NOW imagine the third time, and you're building boxes and now the coworker isnt just doing NOTHING but they are breaking down all the boxes that you are building (feeding the lanes), now once again you dont complete you job and you guys punished by your manager. Fourth time comes, and this coworker starts breaking down the boxes, and you're mad because you know, no matter how many boxes you make, its going to be too difficult to build enough with him breaking them down, so you say "hey, can you stop" and the coworker says "lol, no im just having fun, calm down this doesnt matter" so.. human nature kicks in (ANGER IS NATURAL) and you say, "fucking stop you're making this impossible to do and I hate having to work with you because you're bad at this job" - then BAM you lose your job. --- THIS IS HOW RIOT HANDLES THEIR GAME

its unbelievably unjust and would not hold up in ANY real world situation.. there is a crime called "aggravated assault" for a reason.

anyways, just food for thought. the banning system will never change, it has only gotten worse over the years.

A video game is not your workplace.

It's a video game. Sometimes people are going to play poorly at a video game and if they do it doesn't give you the right to harass them about it. Nothing is riding on these matches other than your ego.

"I got punished for breaking the rules by others are breaking the rules worse so I don't deserve my punishment."

This is the most commonly repeated story on these boards, dude.

Kay, but why mention it then?

recently I was one a two week ban because I call people bad in my games (boohoo get over it), I have NEVER and would never be RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, or just blatantly do something that could be seen as a REAL LIFE crime.

I mean, repeat offenders get escalated punishment in real life too.

this is the unfortunate thing about riot games. they dont punish people based on what could be seen as a REAL crime, they punish people based on what the TROLL community believes is offensive.

So you are calling a majority of the community trolls?

one major trend in this game that I always see is there is always a 0/10 (hypothetically speaking, a player doing VERY under par) on the team, and this player is generally the one that is talking about how they are "just having fun, its just a game" -- this is fine BUT, i believe that if this player has the right to play whatever way they want to play, they should have a decision to make, and that decision is to either 1. I mean, is calling them bad going to make them better? Maybe occasionally, but more likely it will make things worse. Either they may try more risky plays to try and prove wrong, or they will do worse just to spite you. People have off days but you want to lump them with trolls? Harsh. If everyone was the same skill level the game would be boring as hell.

imagine being at work and getting told to do a 20 minute task with a co-worker (this co-worker makes the same amount of money as you and has the same task) now imagine that coworker did nothing the entire time and you guys were unable to complete the task (equivalent to losing a game) and then your boss reprimanded both you AND the coworker. you would be upset but you might be fine the first time.

You are doing something wrong then. You document that the co worker isn't doing what they are supposed to. You can talk to them to see what is going on, but if they refuse to do the task, you document. After the first instance with the failure, you present the documentation to the person above you. Then you keep documenting if the co worker continues, document that you went to the chain of command with the concerns too. This is assuming that they are actually failing to do their job on purpose (aka a troll).

--- THIS IS HOW RIOT HANDLES THEIR GAME

Not really. People document their poor interactions via a report. Documenting and then in the same environment shouting about how much of a twat Dwight is, doesn't mean you get a free pass because you are working.

its unbelievably unjust and would not hold up in ANY real world situation.. there is a crime called "aggravated assault" for a reason.

Being bad isn't aggravated assault.

They punish people based on why players leave their game. Come on man. Think about it. Tons of players quit their game due to toxicity. So they make rules against toxicity. Now, consideringtheres millions of players, the rules have to be a giant blanket that covers everything at all times.

There are no specific case by case stipulations. If someone trolls you, you dont suddenly get to break the rules due to the context of what everyone else is doing. Everything that was a rule, remains a rule. Its the ONLY way to do it.

You cant have debates and arguements over context and whether it is justified to break the rules for every single individual case. That would be a mess of semantics and arguing degrees of offense. So its one big ol blanket that covers everything.

If you break any rules, you are dealt with using the same punishment system as everyone else. Just accept that its the state of the in game rules. It has nothing to do with real life crimes, nothingto do with morality in life. It is specific to in game, as thats all that matters when youre playing in a game.

Dont distract players with needless chatter and provocation. Two people arguing is worse than having to mute just one ally. Now i gotta mute two because one asshole just has to argue with another asshole. Just play the game. Its not Twitter. No one cares about your opinions in game. We just want you to focus and play. (I call everyone random an asshole, no offense to you)

Anyways, I recommend sc2 co-op mode. Fun times. Good luck in future games.

Your first mistake is that you are assuming that most of the time when people are playing bad it's because they are just playing for fun and don't care about winning.

Next, in your work example, you compare telling your coworker that they are bad at their job is the same as in league. Going on the loudspeaker and telling the whole company (everyone) in the game that your coworker is bad at their job is a closer comparison and that would get you reprimanded and probably fired even if you were right.

Finally, what are you hoping to gain by telling a player they are bad? Do you think they will suddenly become a better player?

So you say you said they were bad..... Yea sorry I think you said something a lot worse then the phrase your bad to people to get a 14 day ban. And just because you didn't do any of these: RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, or just blatantly do something that could be seen as a REAL LIFE crime. Does not mean your logs have not been toxic enough to warn't the ban. Also if this was a 14 day ban you came off of then A. You have been punished before and this is the next to last chance or B. You haven't been punished enough and you said something bad enough to warrant a 14 day ban on the first go. Either way You said something that triggered it.

reading these comments makes my brain hurt, another reason this game is awful.

as mentioned before im done with this awful game.

trolls are the only people on the forums actively, so I knew you would all disagree.

bottom line is, everything I said is factual. you are all just too blind to your own ignorance to understand.

EVERY single person comment I will bet has called someone bad in their stay on LoL.

even games that I play I see people saying "I only play because im addicted"

enjoy the failing game. im moving on the greater things in life.

League will fall.

recently a lot more issues with the community are being brought up: NB3 vs. Nubrac.

All professional players sided with NB3 and all troll bad players sided with Nubrac, and then Riot turned their side to side with the majority of the community.

so they punished NB3 and apologized to Nubrac.

these are facts.

I don't need people giving me bullshit as I try to relax and play a game, yea I can just mute, but I shouldn't even have to go that far to do it, everyone should just act civilized rather than bitch about what players are doing. It's one game of your life, it's not going to kill you.

TiltaryClinton7/2/2019, 3:31:27 AM1 votes

Riot doesn't care. These boards are moderated to keep negative experiences down voted. They have terrible customer service and only care about money. New players can't see downvoted threads so the plethora of people complaining get swept under the rug until the poor new player gets all their money swiped.
