@ Riot, Game Addition Proposal: Turning off Chat in Game

Just wanted to throw out an idea to the devs at Riot. I think it would be a good idea for players to be able to turn off chat as a whole while in game, just as you can turn off all chat. For those who are prone to being toxic and dont want to be banned, it would make it significantly harder to do so without doing it intentionally. I think most if not all toxic players just hate to lose (ergo a personality issue) and having a bad game or being stuck with others having a bad game just makes it worse. Most toxic players dont afk or assist the other team, they just talk alot. Doesnt mean they shouldnt be allowed to play, just means they SHOULDNT TALK.

I believe this is a feasible idea because the player with chat turned off will still be able to communicate with his team through the ping system. You can request help, notify of enemies missing, request allies fallback, or just draw attention to a position.

Just some food for thought.

(I know how most if not all forums work, so let the trolling begin. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs] HIT IT!)

I've seen posts suggesting this before, I have no clue why Riot doesn't want to add it. I don't want anything to do with chat because I know for a fact if I expose myself to it I am going to get tilted.

Heroes of the Storm did this early on and it's been nothing but beneficial. Most actual game-related communication takes the form of pings anyway. That game even lets you mute pings per player, and it still doesn't seem to be detrimental in any way. This should definitely be added. "Just mute everyone." Well, the mute buttons are quite small and that's a lot of people to mute, especially if you're not aware you can turn all chat off.

sadly this

Riot Exekias: It’s something we’ve considered numerous times, but ultimately, Restricted Chat mode’s main goal is to help reform players. If we allow people to opt in, then not only does it lose its impact as a punishment, but it also doesn’t help the volunteers to improve their behavior. Instead, it would serve as a crutch that might actually prevent improvement. For example, if you’re not great at riding a bike and want to get better, do you keep riding your bike and learn from each fall or do you start to use training wheels every time you use your bike from that point forward?

I know that there are plenty of situations where it feels impossible to keep emotions from violently erupting but nobody ever said the road to improving behavior was an easy one. It may be a hard and difficult journey, but at the end of it, I think that you will find your efforts rewarded by a much more enjoyable in game experience.

Just /mute all. You really can't help yourself to not talk shit to your teammates in game or the enemy team? I guess ya, implement it then. But I have no sympathy for people who can't play a game without insulting other players. Actually, don't implement it. I want these people to have some kind of learning experience. If you can't stop yourself from insulting people, your parents probably taught you nothing about discipline and respect so maybe something in life needs to be there to keep your ego in check.

Yes I know I'm an asshole.
