"Suicide is not a Joke"
I don't think suicide is a joke, obviously it's real. But this is the only argument I see here whenever someone brings up the topic of getting banned for "jokingly telling their friend to kill themselves." I feel like context is a real issue in league's report system, and it's completely unwarranted to ban someone for making a joke in any circumstance as long as it is not blatantly racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. Obviously racism, sexism, homophobia, and suicide/depression are all real issues. That doesn't make them taboo discussions. If someone is sarcastically telling their friend to kill themselves in the in-game chat, there should be absolutely no problem, as long as the friend is actually unhurt by what they said and they're "in on the joke." Doing something such as this does not mean someone is "making a joke out of suicide." That is the stupidest argument, it's just a cop-out. It doesn't even make sense. Same thing goes for "joking about suicide is promoting self-harm." How? It's superstition at its finest.
Don't get me wrong. I understand why Riot would remove someone from the game if they are spreading hate, telling randoms to kill themselves and that such. Joking with a friend doesn't spread hate to anyone. As much as that random top laner might feel inclined to report someone for typing "kys" in the game chat, there really wasn't any need to report them in the first place, as they weren't disturbing the playing field or spreading hate. The playerbase is hyper-sensitive to this phrase, and I swear to god, saying it in any context will get you banned.
-this all coming from a perma-banned draven main that told my janna support to kill themselves - no sarcasm. yes I regret it, please don't bring it up
