Why is admitting defeat = toxic?

Picture this.

20/4 Draven Adc. (3 shotting the tankiest member on your team)

10/3 Riven Top.

"We can still win."

Like I'm all for not giving up when circumstances clearly dictate a comeback is possible, but there are times defeat is all but LITERALLY guaranteed. I don't get why there are players that simply "nEvEr SuReNdEr" no matter what even if the game is clearly lost.

Admitting defeat isn't toxic.

Being the asshole that spams "ff" at five minutes when you're 0-2, goes out of his way to tilt the team whenever you're behind, and blatantly afk-farms or sits in base when surrender votes fail IS toxic.

Personally, I'm not entirely a "never surrender" type, but I'm inclined to play it out if I see even a small avenue to victory. A fed Draven, for example, is a prime target to hard engage on and remove, and if he's caught and the rest of his team doesn't have kills, that's a won team fight and likely some major objectives. This goes doubly if the enemy is focused on farming kills and isn't taking many turrets.

Admitting defeat isn't toxic. However, refusing to cooperate and refusing to play because you have no motivation to play the game out especially in a ranked game can be considered griefing. There are many possible outcomes in this game and many different forms. I am mostly for not surrendering due to the fact I believe in most games can be won. But I also consider the worst circumstances of any situation, if the majority of the team agrees there's no possible way and I fit in their agreement I will surrender, especially if I can't help the situation at all.

I do, however, always keep my mouth shut when it comes to that situation. Because I don't want to sound negative enough to bring everyone else down and preventing them from playing at their full potential. That means I don't ask for FF, I won't say "I'm done", I won't say anything negative. I simply don't reply or just keep it to myself. If I cannot remedy our problems and the rest of the team is 3 FF's and waiting for my response, I will move on.

If it's only that draven, there's still comeback.

If he doesn't respect certain power spikes, he can still get 1 shot, and as Jo0o said, if their team has no more dog, then you win the fight.

U can still cheese.. that’s the point.. it’s legit how the game works or use to work. Where even if 2 lanes were lost, you could still pull of cheeky map plays, but your team would have to have the same attitude. But now it’s basically if you aren’t ahead u ff...

Who said it's toxic? Are you sure you're not over simplifying a situation? Like maybe repeatedly telling them the game is over, just give up, you all fed too much... things like that, and someone said that's toxic? Because that is toxic. It's not admitting defeat that is the toxic aspect of it.
