What exaclty, IS being toxic?

I've been playing League Of Legends and in a variety of games I've seen different players react to certain things in different ways. It sounds very vague, but what I'm trying to say, when does something become toxic? I play with my friends alot and we use Discord and talk to each other and when I'm support I steal my friends buffs he types ''kys''. Obviously this is banter between us and we don't mean to insult teammates. But very often I make jokes in all chat like ''cy@'' or I do my level 5 emote and I get an instant response from the opponents saying ''wow toxic report''. I never say stuff like ''haha noob idiot get wrecked **'' which in my eyes, is toxic. For myself, I have created an image of what toxic is and what isn't, but many times it comes across as if I'm toxic according to sensitive indivivduals. Does the ''report for toxicity'' system just ban you for saying something that offended the other player like ''cya'' or does it actually have a system where it detects racism and cruel remarks?

I'm not trying to say that I am a perfect person or whatever, but I realise that banter often makes people mad and that it can offend people by simply putting ''?'' in chat. What is toxic, and what isn't? Can I be banned for saying ''cya''? Wheres the line between banter and toxicity? Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful day fellas [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

"Toxicity" is fairly subjective, but there are some clear indicators. Basically, going out of your way to make the game less enjoyable for your teammates or opponents is being toxic. Some light trash talk is fine, but hounding your opponent repeatedly in /all usually isn't. Obviously, using in-game functions like the mastery emote or /taunt is totally allowed.

Apparently "cy@" is a reference to somebody or something that I'm not familiar with, so I'm not actually sure if it means something other than the obvious.

"Kys" is definitely a punishable thing to say, if your teammates were so inclined. I'd avoid typing stuff like that unless you're playing with all friends.

People will find plenty of reasons to report you, but unless you're actually in the wrong, those reports won't do anything. So don't sweat it.

if those people were on your friend's list and you frequently friendly banter with them, you won't be considered "toxic" from the system as it knows how to differenciate between strangers and friends.
